Umm, Mercury is the hottest planet because it is the closest to the sun, not Venus.

^It's a trick question. It's because the gasses on Venus intensify the heat or something which makes it hotter than Mercury.
I skim read the answer but that's the basic thing I picked up. Hopefully someone can correct me.
