Your Zyklon/Galaxi Count

Matt N

CF Legend
Hi guys. Many of us on here are prone to grabbing a good +1 wherever we see the opportunity, and as we have a number of threads discussing our counts of various different common “cred grab” type coasters, such as wacky worms and Reverchon spinning mice, I thought it might be fun if we had a counting thread for another common +1 coaster; the humble Zyklon/Galaxi! These coasters are manufactured by a variety of different manufacturers, but perhaps most prolifically by Pinfari and SBF, and they can come in both looping and non-looping varieties. In the UK, at least, these coasters are often a staple headliner of small seaside amusement parks, with coastlines and piers across the country being littered with Zyklon coasters of some description. With this in mind, I’d be interested to know; how many Zyklon (or Galaxi, as they’re sometimes known as) coasters have you ridden in total?

Personally, I’ve only ridden 1, and that first Zyklon was ridden yesterday! The ride in question is Bulldog Coaster at Brean Theme Park, a looping Zyklon manufactured by Pinfari. So my current list looks as follows:

Pinfari preZyklon TL59
  1. Bulldog Coaster - Brean Theme Park (ridden 9th September 2023)
But I’d be interested to know; how many Zyklon/Galaxi style coasters have you ridden, in both their looping and non-looping variants?

I've been on two that are apparently called ZL42 - the former Klondike at Drayton Manor was my first looping coaster, but I've also been on the one at Brighton Pier which has the same layout. Klondike was better because it had a slight theme and two tunnels which felt deceptively tight on the clearance!

#1 Crazy Loop - Brean Theme Park - Not exactly good, but serviceable enough.
#2 Roller Coaster - Southport Pleasureland - Completely forgot what this ride was like, but rode it with someone with a zero tolerance for rattles and they enjoyed it, so I guess it had something going for it.
#3 Cosmic Typhoon - The Milky Way Adventure Park - The most I remember about this ride was that 'Anaconda' by Nicki Minaj was playing in the station during our queue for it.
#4 Mad Mouse - Clarence Pier - Not sure why they put comfort collars on a zyklon, and not sure why it's this high, but it's here.
#5 Stella's Revenge - Clacton Pier - Lost my drink under the seat, never to be seen again.
#6 Dinosaur Valley - Wicksteed Park - Extremely bordering on the definition of 'zyklon galaxi' but seems to fit the definition well enough. Ran three trains, and seemed to do the job well enough but bit tight on the shoulders.
#7 Turbo - Brighton Pier - forgot everything about it and not exactly intending on finding out what I've erased from my mind.
#8 Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril - Disneyland Park Paris - getting into the "genuinely bad" territory here, this one had a very prominent rattle, came off with a headache, rest of my group loved it, why why why.
#9 Looping Star - Clacton Pier - home to one of the worst transitions I have ever experienced on a coaster, an extremely intense rattle right after the loop in the front seat. Ow.
#10 Creepy Crawler - Oakwood Theme Park - shaky shaky shaky shaky. Not sure why this park ever got this ride, has zero place in the lineup. Helix pulled positives but have no reason or intention of doing it again when Megafobia's in the same park.
#11 Cyclone - Barry Island Pleasure Park - an enjoyment level so close to completely 'zero', a prominent rattle through the entire layout, very uncomfortable valleys and the harshest most deathwish brake run I've ever experienced twice consecutively. Come for Aerospace and the top scan, not this.
