Wildcat @ Hershey Needs to Go

I come off of that ride with a headache 99% of the time. It's gotten that bad. Some may like it, but I'm not a fan. Perhaps the only pro for the ride is the twister style layout.

Now lets pretend Hershey did get rid of it. What would you prefer to takes its place? Maybe an RMC treatment? It could be anything. But something on the smaller side. I would eliminate a EuroFighter since they already have Fahrenheit, but go wild. Would you even agree with me that they should take it out in the first place? Please tell me your guys' opinions.

It's got some good real estate but it was an acknowledgement to their old Wildcat coaster that operated from 1923 to 1945. The issue with the ride is that it's a pre-MiFly GCI build, which means it was designed for PTCs and not the newer MiFly trains.

I think the ride is salvageable and can be given a fresh breath of life with a full retracking over a few years like what the Cyclone is getting.

The ride is screwed due to its location. Its needs a constant retracking on par with Voyage yearly due to all the chemicals its located next to (Boardwalk is right there). So if it WERE to go, nothing wooden would go there in any manner due to the boardwalks proximity.

Lightning Racer is suffering from the same fate, but it isnt as rough as Wildcat (yet, give it a few more years).

But Lightning Racer has never had to endure PTCs on it. I don't think it'll get that bad.

You could remove Wildcat and not replace it with another woodie. You have enough wood in that park.

Another B&M maybe, they already have 3 intamins and 3 woodies. I personally don't mind Wildcat and would be a little sad to see it go.

This belongs more in General Discussion.

Keep it.

Wildcat is GCI's first creation, and a definite historic piece. Yes it is rough - majority of wooden coasters are. And with that, it will require retracking, just as majority of wooden coasters do.

It would be a shame to lose the first GCI roller coaster.

I just think Hershey doesn't invest the proper maintenance budget to the woodies they have. There's nothing wrong with the ride itself.

I never even knew this coaster existed. But looking at the POV it looks as good as Gwazi (So pretty much rubbish).

They could take it down and just leave a little memorial thing.

Why does it really matter if its the first GCI? Obviously its disappointing from an enthusiast point of view, because we actually know it was GCI's first creation. But it's not as if Hershey is advertising it as the first GCI coaster. It's not like it would be ripping out one of the longest operational coasters or something.

I haven't been to Hershey recently enough to really have an opinion on the ride, but I don't think that Wildcat would be preserved if the only factor in its favor is that it's the first GCI.

^ And I am not saying that Wildcat should remain on merit alone of being the first GCI. It would just be a shame.

I for one don't believe in keeping something around for the sake of history, if it's going to hinder growth and prosperity. There are a lot of historically significant rides out there that need to go; they're becoming horribly aged, getting harder and more expensive to maintain, becoming an eyesore, and sitting on plots of land that could be valuable to the parks growth, for some examples.

I'm with some people on this, it is GCI's first coaster and not many people know that. The ride I agree is rough, but if you hate roughness than ride in the front. The back on this is smoother than the front on Thunderhawk. Maybe some re tracking would help (I'm sure they do). Do not get rid of this ride and I don't see hershey doing that.

They really wouldnt be able to do much for the layout as Hershey just doesnt seem like the place to place a wild quasi-wooden coaster.

Went on it a couple of days ago and yeah it was a bit rough but I personally enjoyed it, compared to others out there *cough* mean streak *cough* it's a decent ride.
