Which park do you think is the best?

Don't just think about the rides. Take into consideration how the parks feels, their theming and their rides.
Please tell me why you chosen that park.

Alton towers,
Known as britain's best theme park. This park has had Three worlds first's, such as....
Worlds first vertical drop roller coaster,
Worlds first flying coaster and
The worlds first free-fall drop coaster.

I have chosen Portaventura because The theming of the area's is amazing, the rides are spectacular and the park has a very safe feel.

Well Alton Towers is the Uk's best theme park,
PortAventura is known among alot people as Europe's best and
Six Flags Magic Mountain is Known as one of the best in North America.

Yeah, Magic Mountain has to be most coaster enthusiasts wet dream. As much as I enjoy going to a park "for going to a park", there's no argument that can ever hold either Alton or Port Aventura over Magic Mountain.

Port Aventura does a lot of stuff "right" in terms of the way the park is presented. It's a very high quality theme park. Unlike Alton, it was designed though rather than growing organically over the years. Alton's best parts still hark from early Tussauds' days and are now a bit tired. However, I think for ride quality and operations Alton pips Port Aventura. It's down to personal preference but I like Nemesis and Oblivion, enjoy RMT and think Rita, 13 and Air are "alright I suppose". Port Aventura has the the blindingly good Kahn, then the "too painful really but probably good underneath the agony" Stampida, a bland Arrow Mine Train of "more lift hills than ride" and the completely dreadful Furius Baco. Oh, Tomahawk was good actually. Support rides are mostly bland one offs except Condor.

As a "Theme Park" Port aventura is a really nice place to hang around, but for ride it's just not quite as well rounded as Alton. Shambalah will make a huge difference to that (even if it's a typical B&M Mega) and coupled with Kahn will probably push PA back over Alton. It's very close in my opinion between the two anyway.

Sfmm for me. The rides are great and I loved the top half of the park.

Alton for died years ago, it's stuck in the 80's/90's and the newer attractions don't come close to the older ones. The park is just old tbh.

Portaventura for me is just a one coaster park the rest were rubbish. I did not really like the park it's just to perfect a bit rct tbh.

What a **** stupid selection.

SFMM pretty obviously, if anybody disagrees they're idiots. It's an Enthusiast's playground!

The only one I've been to is Alton, but I think Six Flags Magic Mountain would undoubtedly be the best for the entire package. Alton is one of my personal favourite parks, because it has great creds and an atmosphere unlike any park I've been to in North America, but I'd be silly not to say Magic Mountain.

No need to be a Asshole, It's warranted your opinion, so it can't be that bad...

I haven't been to SFMM, but i would love too, It's got a selection of rides that neither AT or PA can offer, however AT and PA have the better themeing and operation's.

Still SFMM by a mile though...

Well, this is an interesting forum. However, as Furie stated, it really does depend on how you judge it. I've only been to AT (Given my limited Coaster Count), so I can't make a really balanced judgement.

Do you judge them as parks....in which I'd be tempted to vote for Alton.
...Or do you judge them in terms of attractions, where Magic Mountain wins hands down, although Shambala will give a significant boost to the attraction line - up.

In terms of just "pure theme park good-ness", Alton Towers is possibly the UK's best theme park, and boasts terrific scenery and theming, and for all the building constraints, its a pretty dammed good park. Since Air came along in 2002, I feel that the World's or Uk's firsts attractions have significantly gone down in quality, Rita's pretty good but if th13teen was bigger and perhaps a B&M, then it might have been a decent ride.

I feel that PA is somewhere between the other two though, with some great rides....but just not quite enough to beat SFMM.

However, to tell the truth, nobody really does a theme park better than the USA, and I really can't say much bad about it. It's a little difficult to judge one of the greatest them parks in the world with a relatively small park such as Alton. It really is a park which you admire...

But for family fun?? That's a different question alltogether...

Does obnoxiousness develop during the course of using CoasterForce, or are those who are already obnoxious simply drawn to it? It seems most users here are always negative about other people, about events, and usally, even, about theme parks themselves.

Not exactly. It's just that some kind of people apparently find joy in picking on others, so they do it all the time. That, or the amount of negative posts increase proportional to how much you care about negative posting - in short, you find what you look for. As a rule of thumb, anything that blatantly outrages you without pretending to be constructive is usually meant to be sarcasm, irony or trolling. Disregard it.

By all means, don't let it discourage you from posting. "Haters gonna hate", there will always be some negative sod looking down on things - this is the Internet after all. Ignore the Eeeyores, and enjoy coasters, parks and discussion! As long as your spelling and grammar are okay (it is), and you follow basic forum etiquette, we're happy to have you around. Have your say, it's supposed to be opinion after all!

I think I'd prefer Alton, actually. Less concrete, less people, not as dreadfully warm, and affordably close to home. It also looks like a place where you can find a quiet spot even during high season.

SFMM.

It's not even like it's a dumpy park with loads of amazing coasters, it's a nice park with loads of amazing coasters.

Alton and PA are nice parks with a couple of decent coasters.

SFMM.

I kinda begrudge it though, simply because it doesn't really cater for my preferred type of ride (non inverting airtime filled) Apocalypse or Colossus would have probably had the most potential but the former looks a bit naff and I remember hearing the latter is pretty rough.

I've never been to the park so I could be pleasently suprised, but looking at the current ride list i'm confident that personally i'll prefer CP or SFGAdv.

Please remember this is not just about the rides.
For example Thorpe Park. It has lot's of thrill rides, but it doesn't really have a good atmosphere. If you know I mean.

Going from the opinions of those who have been lucky enough to go to all three... STILL MM ;)

That's odd, because I actually think the atmosphere is incredible, especially walking across the bridge and through Port Atlantis into the park. I must admit, though, I am a bit of an OTT Thorpe Park fanboy.

It used to have a good atmosphere. Now they blast Rihanna at you as you walk through the entrance and you might get pulled to one side to be security searched before spending a day surrounded by gross people pushing in line, smoking, shouting, swearing and generally being gross.

Yaaayyy.
