What's in a name?

My name's Sue...how do you do?

Actually it's short for Suzanne, but no-one can ever remember that (as proven by Ian calling me Susan in the Christmas meet-up topic). Blame my parents for going all French and putting a bloody z in there grrrr. So I always just use Sue - it's much easier.

So here's the plan. Share with us your names, nick names, what people call you when you are intimate.....you get the idea.

To start the ball rolling here are my most common ones:

Suz (what my parents call me)
Sue (what everyone else calls me)
Suzanne (real name only used by my boss)
Bush/Bush Woman (because of my hair...on my head you filthy people!!!!)
Haystack (again, because of my hair)
Pie Queen (because of my Mum's famous pies at uni.)
Queen Sue (a distortion of Pie Queen)
Sue-per-poo/Pooy Suey (after I rolled in dog mess - nice!)
Hazel (used by a friend's parents because apparently I'm nuts)
Mountain Goat (because of my ability to scale mountains on field trips)
...and of course...Mysterious Sue

As a side note, apparently Suzanne means 'gracious white lilly'...you can stop laughing now!

Well...

Matt - most of my family, uni friends
Matthew - formal stuff really
Hicks - mostly old friends
Hixee - more commonly used by friends
Mas - occasionally used by my brother, comes from when he was a baby and couldn't pronounce the 'tt' as easily.

So all rather uninteresting sadly.

Hmm

Jeremy - Most friends and family
Jer- select friends, for most friend whom I haven't known long, or in a informal environment I prefer this.
Sooth - Xbox live friends
Sketch - Select friend (and certain people I dont even know apparently)
Malvin - Most coworkers

Ian or Mr Bell to most people.

To family members and close friends it's E.

Neal is ma real name, still don't know why. Personally, I hate it and try to avoid its existence as much as possible. In my house it's common courtesy to not call me by name unless I'm in trouble.

Orange Peel - Rhyming slang used by my Cub and Scout leaders when younger.

Nelly - See: elephant.

nealbie - Stems from college friends being bored in class and randomly going "LOL, imagine if Neal was a Furby!?!". You can only find it capitalised on fb. I only allow people whom I'm fond of to call me this as well.

Paradox - Is the name of my fursona (oh noes! He's a Kitsune! Run and hide!).

Harry - What I was called by my team-mates and manager when I played football when I was younger and not fat. Because I look a bit like Harry Potter with my messy hair, and always wore a Harry Kewell top to training! :p

Frank - Rhyming slang for lank. Is what Dad usually calls me if I'm not being called 'son'. See aforementioned lack of use of my real name as a social courtesy.

Doctor - College friends occasionally called me this, because of my penchant for brown overcoats and sonic screwdrivers.

Sir - Stephen, my best mate and I would always call each other Sir. It was polite, pretentious and posh.

Yeah, I'm awesome!

Good topic Sue!

I can't really use Nicknames...

Leigh doesn't work with anything (except wee). So thats just what I get called. I will take A-Kid which came from a stop-frame animation series (I cannot publish it for controversial themes) I used to make when I was younger, inspired by Ardmans Angry Kid.

I will except 13igh as a new one that I've now made up. 13 has become apart of life...so yeah.

Back in the school days however, Nan Shagger (rumor spread name), Spaz or I'd just respond to some spastic noice that someone would make. But those days are over. Those people are gone and one is dead. So its all good.

Phil - most people.
Furie - most online "friends" know me as this.
Philip - my mother insists on calling me it (it means "lover of horses", yeah, lap it up).
Sir - People who see me in a suit use this.
Hammy - old uni friends.
Hamster-boy - formal version of the above ;)
Bunny-boy - couple of good friends use it.
Dad - the kids.
Madame_Furie's called me Ian a few times too in times of passion... Not sure why?

I'm not massively a "Mr Steadman", but it does happen every so often I suppose.

I'm pretty much not bothered to be fair, I'm not really vain about my name at all. Though you're less likely to get any response from me if you use Philip. It doesn't annoy me, I think it just shows you're trying to wind me up, or get a raise from me - so I just ignore it. :)

I don't really care what people call me, except for one version of my name (and I wouldn't be stupid enough to post that here, hee hee)

I am surprised Neal missed the chance to jump in with "That's Not My Name is a Ting Tings song" :p

Uh, Benjamin is what no-one ever, ever calls me. Only one person can get away with calling it me even as a joke, and he only does it to "pretend annoy me". And it works. Seriously, don't call me that.

Ben is what 99.99% of the World calls me.

A few people just refer to me as "big gay" or similar.

The only lovey-dovey nickname I'll accept is "Babe", just cause that is quite cute once I forget the fact it is taken from a pig. Baby, sweetie, all those silly names are for women ¬¬

I do have a few "intimate" nick-names, but, since they're all to do with the size of my penis, I won't be posting those here... I don't like them though. Not because it's insulting, just a little weird, even in the moment.

So, really, I don't have any nicknames whatsoever. Mainly because the only things Ben rhymes with are like; ten, hen, when, Len, Ken, den, yen, pen or Venn. And anyone that tries to call me Diagram Boy would be smacked.

Martyn

Martyn
Mart (I don't like Mart at all, but it comes naturally to some people, and then people mishear and start calling me Mark)
Hoyer - it's my surname, and it just seems to stick within groups of friends, it's really weird. If I hang around with someone for long enough, they'll just start calling me Hoyer after a certain period of time, and won't be able to explain why.

In the motorsport photography circle I sometimes get called "Beaver" because my boss's nickanme is Beaver and I'm usually standing in for him. Or "baby Beaver" or "baby Bongo" because he drives a Mazda Bongo. All very silly really.

Yeah, I find this quite interesting too. It's what happened to me, although I think me being called 'Hicks' stems from an old rugby master back when I started playing rugby in like, year 3. I think Hixee is just how my friends adjusted that to be more... friendly.

Well, the only person I know who calls me Christopher is my mum when she's shouting at me.

Chris - Almost everyone else calls me this. It's so much easier than Christopher, and it's what I tell people when they ask what my name is.

Witty - What my closer friends call me. It stems from a play on my surname, and the fact that I'm supposedly quite witty.

That's it. Nothing else, except for friendly banter with mates, such as dickhead or douchebag.

Mike

Michael, Mike, or less commonly Mikey.
I have had a couple of nicknames in the past, but both have pretty much died off now anyway, thankfully! :)

Wouldn't have anything to do with a certain member of a pretty **** boy/girl band with a penchant for ice skating would it? ;)

As for me...

Nicola -My family, some people who have known me since I was little and a few people at work. No friends really call me this anymore though, and it slightly freaks me out when they do.
Nic - what the vast majority of people know me as
Vadge - Started by Bellend/Scumbag, and somehow just kinda stuck. Starting to wear off a bit since I changed my username, which is a shame. I kinda like it.
Miss - Steve at work has insisted on calling me this since he found out I used to be a teacher.
Choppy - what my Dad sometimes call me. No idea where it came from.

Nic, yeah, although I should of re-worded that as he wasn't part of the main gang of people, but was the brother of someone in the gang that I always saw. Ben Flenley ring any bells? He was a few years up from us.

Jools

Giga Poster
Mine are:

Jules/Jools (most of family and some friends)
Jay (most friends)
Jayjay (most friends)
Deano (some friends)
Big D (some friends)
Juli' (some female friends)
Master Deans (Diesel people)

then aload of insults by people who hate me or are homophobic :p
