Although Belgium is a very little country, it does have alot of themeparks. Walibi Belgium and Bobbejaanland, the two biggest themeparks in Belgium have begun a personal battle. Not like they used to have in the 80's and 90's (both parks were competing to open the most exclusive ride in their park), but more a personal battle.
To know the whole history of this battle, we have to go back a couple of months. Looopings, a very critical themeparksite discovered a memo from Bobbejaanland, saying that the managers got a personal bonus from Parque Reunidos when they didn't use the whole annual budget for maintenance. Looopings found out that Bobbejaanland was keen on this rule, so they kept Sledge Hammer -which was out cause of technical defunct- closed a bit longer. This news was on discussion boards from fansites all over Belgium, throwing very nasty critics to Bobbejaanland and its manager. Bobbejaanland posted on their Facebook-profile that themeparkenthusiasts were lying and could never be trusted. A slap in the face for those fans, of course. Walibi Belgium saw that nasty comment to themeparkfans and posted a very clever answer towards the fans: "We want to thank everyone for their loyalty to Walibi Belgium, even themeparkenthusiasts".
But the story continues. Looopings found an internal memo from Bobbejaanland AGAIN! This time, Bobbejaanland asked teir staff to spy on other Belgian parks. They asked the staff to look after discounts and promotions from parks such as Plopsaland, Bellewaerde and Walibi Belgium. If they did found discounts and other promotions for those parks, staff from Bobbejaanland have to deliver the proof to the management of Bobbejaanland.
And again, a couple of minutes later, Walibi Belgium posted some comments and a picture to the adress ofBobbejaanland: this very great comment can be found underneath:
We have discovered an internal memo from one of our Belgian competitors where they ask their staff to collect as much information (promotions, brochures, press releases) as they can from their Belgian competitors. As friendly and helpfull as Walibi Belgium is, we will send them that information ourselves...
This will definately be continued...
