Walibi Belgium Speedy pass

I remember reading over at screamscape that Walibi belgium has announced a new new speedy pass system, but had been hit with negative press over the announcement. Does anyone actually know whether they have actually installed it at the park yet, or whether it will not happen now, or be installed sometime in the future.

FYI i could not find any info about it on the website

I used the Walibi Holland one the other day, it was a pain as you need to use mobile internet, and there is no wifi at the park. It is not a great system really.

I actually managed to find a bit about it and from what it sounds, it is not a smart phone system and is probably just a normal wristband or card system. I could not be certain though.

Walibi Belgium has now two 'skip queues' passes in the park. First one is the '4X Pass', with which you can skip 4 queues. This 4X Pass costst 15 EUR, is nameless and can be shared with other people. The Speedy Pass is for unlimited skipping of lines, costs 35 EUR and has your name on it.

There was alot of commotion about this Speedy Pass, as people thought it was discrimination. Many people thought it was unfair and discrimination for 'poor' people, who sometimes have to save lots of money to buy a ticket for Walibi. Whilst 'rich' people could buy a Speedy Pass and skip queues, whilst those 'poorer' people have to wait. They also thought it was not moral, as we teach kids they have to wait their turn before they can do a ride. And they could see how rich kids could skip queues.

However, Walibi Belgium had a meeting with the secretary of state Phillipe Courard, who thought these Speedy Passes where discriminating. Don't know how that went, but the Speedy Pass is still there. But they are now promoting the 4X Pass more than this Speedy Pass.

Well boo hooo - I think you'll find it's called "life".

I can't afford first class air travel, but I don't moan about the preferrential treatment that gets you!
