For those who haven't yet witnessed in facebookovision -I present! Vegetable_Furie :)

Last year, Maxi-Minor_Furie brought home a few little tubs of soil. Apparently they contained some small plants.

We put them on the window sill, and sure enough, a few plants started to grow.

Early last year, I was looking at making the front garden into a drive way. Anything to get rid of the grass in the front - I find gardening and mowing a chore. So there were plans, but my finances couldn't back it up.

So, we come to the little pots.

I dug out a vegetable patch, 1M by 0.5M and planted the little plants.

Turns out we had corn and pumpkins (see how I tie this into 4th July?).

The corn grew, the pumpkins died. I didn't care, it was a nice experiment, but not something I was overly keen to try again.

Then comes this year...

Madame_F has different ideas.

I find myself with MMF planting a load of seeds in pots again. Peas and Tomatoes he got for his birthday last... erm... July! :)

They grow in the pots... big... and plentiful... They need relocating... I am "persuaded" to redig the veg patch from last year.

Yeah, hurrah and all that.

So I do and make it a big bigger while I'm at it (it's about 2M by 1M now).

We plant the seedlings and watch and wait and wait and watch and feed and watch and wait and feed and weed and wait and feed and watch a weed and wait.

More plants are donated to us (while I was in New York - I came back to discover new plants ) and MMF somehow acquires a planting kit of more tomatoes, Pumpkins (yeah, I relish the thought of that, but not as much as I relish the though of tomatoes (guffaw)) and Lettuce (lettuce, seriously, who gives a kid a lettuce growing kit?)

They take, and need transplanting... This is leading somewhere, honestly - I'm about to get to the pictures to appease you - this is not a novel.

We have lots of sun, and lots of rain and lots of watering and looking after of plants - Furie has been domesticated.

We end up with Boreno (it's near Spain Taylor):

FFS! How much green. In this picture are at least 8 tomato plants, 12 pea plants and a dozen or so lettuce!!!

The tomatoes are actually growing! I was considering dumping these not too long ago because of the amount of effort required!

Some of th epeas have just reached the right age to harvest... Excellent. What else do I have to do on a Friday night?

Another shot of the Borneo rain forest before harvesting - it's going to be a tough job!

Before harvesting, some shots of the rest of the vegetable_furie.

We have a big pot with Tomato, Beetroot* and Pumpkin.

*Did I not mention Madame_Furie, in her enthusiasm to get me to garden, ordered free vegetables off the BBC?

Pot of carrots, Beetroot and Tomatoes.

This was amusing to plant. I just gave up and told MMF to plant them. He chucked the entire packets of Carrots and Beetroot onto the soil in the old recycling caddy. To spite me, every bloody one grew!

Quick, backtrack. This messing about with the story line will confuse Taylor and Omerod... Pea harvest - I haves one!

They needs the podding!

And podding they got!

We ended up with about half a bowl full, which mixed with (shop bought) carrots and (shop bought) sweetcorn made a good selection of veg for family_furie.

It has to be said, the peas were actually really delicious... Even in pea terms where it's impossible to go wrong!

And that's about it really. It's not a trip to dirty theatre, or New York, or cooking a fry up - but I think it was probably more fun than all of the above :P

Final shot of the potted veg, growing as we speak!

I'll keep this updated as and when!

Woop for gardening Furie!

You seem to have quite a varied selection of veg there. You should grow strawberries to start off a section of fruits :P

Wow Furie, that was quite possibly THE most exciting report I have ever read in my entire life! Glad to hear that the peas turned out good even though peas are kind of gross. I'm also glad the tomato plants are growing.. I've had tomato plants in my yard for years now and every year we get far too many tomatoes than we can eat, but they're soo good. Our raspberry plants however, make about two raspberries every year :P .

Congrats on your vegetable harvesting skills!

Taylor - you loved the report! :P

Peas are also the food of the gods - they make every meal complete :)

I'm not growing fruit (other than the pumpkins and tomatoes :P ) because they require a lot of work.

Erol - Ham doesn't grow on trees. Neither do rabbits Marc :P

^ I did love it!

And no, peas are weird. They just have that like, harder shell and then they're all squashy inside.. Blegh. I use to like them but I think I grew out of that :P . I have to agree about tomato plants being a lot of work, but the tomatoes that come off of them are SO worth it, whereas the carrots I grew last year tasted like a-s-s.
