Thought I'd give a separate thread for this report so I don't hijack ThomVD's from his own trips. I'll hijack Serena's for Plopsa though
A large group of people were planning on going to Plopsaland de Panne, Belgium one weekend in mid-April. Stone Cold, Nic, Peep and I decided to head over to Belgium a day early and go to Bellewaerde. Stone Cold picked me up and we made our way to south London and picked up Peep and Nic and made our way to a Travelodge somewhere in Kent for the night before getting up at stupid o'clock to get our ferry from Dover to Calais. The weather was beautiful.
When we arrived we went to Plopsaland first so Peep and Nic could get their Plopsa Passes to save faffing around tomorrow.
And then went to Ieper to pick up ThomVD at the station and then drove to Bellewaerde.
Entrance paid and we were in. It immediately hit me as quite pretty park.
Vadge went off to the loo, and that is then the infamous moment of the weekend happened.
Stone Cold, Peep and I were looking at the map in search of creds when we turned around and saw someone on the floor clutching her teeth. I nearly said 'oh ****, someone's throwing up' as I saw Peep rushing over and I realised it was Vadge who had fallen over. There was blood all over her face and the floor, she'd fallen over with quite some force and was rushed to the medical centre.
Whilst they were seeing to her, Stone Cold, Thom and I went off in search of creds.
Up first was the Ladybird Coaster, Keverbaan Coccinelle.
Stone Cold had already queued up for this cred years ago but ended up being spited by the bad weather. We neared the ride entrance when Peep called asking us to get back to the medical centre ASAP. Stone Cold had now queued twice for this cred and not gotten it.
Obviously the situation with Vadge was more important than a kiddie Zierer...a B&M might be more borderline but yeah. Basically the cut on her lip needed to be stitched up and her tooth was very wobbly. Stone Cold and her disappeared off to find a Belgian hospital.
That left Thom, Peep and myself to go and get creds. We went back to Keverbaan Coccinelle first.
It was alright, slightly terrifying as the track went under itself so you nearly smacked your head...that could have been problematic! But yay for the +1.
We stumbled across a Topple Tower. I'd never ridden one before so was keen to try it out.
They're certainly quite odd. I didn't realise they spin as well as 'fall over'. They had fountains that nearly touch you as you tilt. It's good fun but nothing exceptional. I did leave feeling disappointed.
Huracan was next!
It's a Zierer custom coaster and sort of incorporates coaster with dark ride. The first part the coaster train meanders around some pretty fab Egyptian style theming. There's a part where you travel past a couple of waterfalls and get lightly splashed. Then the lift hill happens with the outdoor coaster bit which is alright, back indoors there's some lasers and disco light sort of things. They actually work really well but it does feel like they ran out of budget from the fab theming earlier on and just shoved in some lasers. It's good enough. The coaster as a whole is alright, the experience with the theming is better than the coaster alone though.
To make sure there was no chance of spite we ticked off the final cred in the park, the Boomerang.

It has a pretty colour-scheme but that's where the niceties end. It's a Boomerang for ****'s sake. The first part isn't too bad but going backwards is just awful. The ride overall is rough and uncomfortable. Plus one, yay.
We grabbed a bite to eat, a hotdog thing where they hollowed out the middle of a baguette and shoved some mayo and sausage inside.
It's a clever idea though because it means it doesn't leak the sauce over your hands...even if it does look a little phallic.
We headed over to Jungle Mission next, a boat ride similar to Disney's Jungle Cruise. We had to queue for around 20 minutes which was a little annoying.
It's actually quite fab. There are fountains and there's mist and some pretty cool animatronics, including a fab coughing Indian. Hehe it's great.
We rode Houdini next.
It's a mad house which I can literally remember nothing about.
All I remember is Hex is better. Who says I don't give detailed reports.
We rode the rapids next.
They looked quite tame but they were quite the opposite! Like River Quest at Phantasialand, this rapids ride has a segmented raft but it appeared much more flexible than the aforementioned River Quest and really splashed around, we all got quite damp and the rapids were actually really good.
We then went in search of the shot tower and went through a really beautiful part of the park.
Yay
The shot tower is called Screaming Eagle.
It gives great views of the park but the whole 'shot' part is pretty mediocre with little force which was disappointing. The 'drop' bit wasn't much better, it did leave you hanging for a bit but it's just all a little bit of a let down. Annoying.
The shoot the chute looked fab but we didn't get a chance to ride...plus it looked like you got soaked.
Once we got off, Peep noticed he'd had a missed call from Stone Cold so he phoned them back. They were back in the park (yay) and had made their way over to the lady bird cred and asked if we could meet them there so we raced back over to that.
We saw them on the cred and Vadge's face didn't look too good, with a massive swollen lip, a vadge lip if you will. But we raced around to the Boomerang and over to Huracan and got them their creds. We also rode River Splash the log flume. Yay
It was good, but I can't remember too much about it, so it clearly wasn't excellent...
Time was running short, we went back on Jungle Mission to show Stone Cold and Vadge what it was like. Stone Cold made some children wet themselves by running up behind them screaming. That wasn't embarrassing at all >.<
After that it was pretty much closing time for the park so headed back over to the entrance. We had planned to get a +1 somewhere but it was too late for that now so we headed instead straight to our hotel in Dunkirk.
We went over the road to get a bite to eat. Vadge bailed because she could only eat soup and was shattered. I had a really nice burger.
And they offered a buffet dessert bar. It was amazing!
We went back to our room after and I drank some AWFUL cherry beer that I had bought. It was awful, awful awful awful. But anyway...not long after midnight we got a good night's sleep before a day at Plopsaland the next day.
Thanks very much for reading. I'll add my Plopsa report eventually.
