Troy & Joris en de Draak - Pacing

People usually don't get why I prefer Joris en de Draak over Troy (I love both though), but I think aside from the fact that Joris is a lot smoother, a racer, has a water splash on warm days, and better themed, one of the main reasons is pacing. I just feel that because Troy is faster, it has bigger, more drawn out elements. Long helices, bigger hills, etc. While I think Joris is a LOT more fast paced, with little hills and turns all over the ride, and the only place where it somewhat slows down is pretty much at the ending, while Troy has plenty of slowdown parts.

Look at the POV of the back seat:

See how much more fast paced Joris is? I hope at least someone understands my point.

I know what you mean. But i think its down to personal preference.

While I've not ridden either of these rides my top 2 woodies are White Lightning at Fun Spot and Fireball at Happy Valley. And the reason WL wins of me is its nonstop mad pacing compared to Fireballs huge hills and speed.

I rode both of these woodies (1st time on a GCI woodie) at the start of June this year, amazing ride, have the Out-of-Control feeling, smooth & oh so fun as very re-ridable all day.

Troy lacks airtime & yes it does slow around the bends but has more exciting drops, 1st drop & the through the station pass.

Joris en de Draak has the airtime in the middle /end of the layout, not much airtime over the 1st hills which go over the station, but makes it up with it's twisting layout to the finishline.

Both coasters are as good as each other, just love this type of design to get built in an English park, but Merlin etc are too scared to add one so we end up with more steel.

White Lightening is the closest experience I've had to Joris so I imagine you'd love it then Dave.

I get what you mean Thom and I love both these rides. Their fast pace makes them very, very re-rideable. However, I personally don't agree with Troy being slow in places. I've ridden it in February in the hail and in the summer sunshine and both times I love it for its relentlessness. I always think it's the Nemesis of woodies as it never lets up.

I always think it comes down to what you put in your count - your favorite coasters or your top 10 performing coasters. I love Joris so much and it would be my choice to sit on all day but for me, Troy is in a different class.
