For this year we have a brand new series of Trip reports from our Germany / France Alpes roadtrip of 2024!
As usual, we've made two types of reports. For those who don't like reading, we've created a vlog with moving images for this day:

Europa Park Day 1 + the Evening Before
This summer vacation, we (Supernovae78, Coaster Iris, and Supernovae Jr.) sought entertainment in Germany and France. Here's the report of the first day (and a bit of the evening before).
On Sunday, July 14th, we departed around 10 AM, heading towards Rust and arriving at 'Boland Apartments' at 5 PM, about a 15-minute walk from the park. We were welcomed by the enthusiastic and friendly owner.

While Supernovae78 and Jr are unpacking the suitecases Coaster Iris is allowed to relax a little in the backyard after driving us from the Netherlands to South Germany.
After settling in and eating, we decided to go to the Colosseo hotel to watch the final of the European Football Championship on a big screen. We would have preferred to be there in our orange shirts, but let's not talk about that... Luckily, Spain won, which we preferred over England, so we still had a little celebration. It was great to experience it this way; it was very busy but had a nice atmosphere.
Satisfied, we walked back to our apartment to quickly get into bed. The next day we had to get up early for the first day in the 'showroom of the Mack family'.
Monday, July 15th: Hello Europa Park, we're back after two years of absence! Let's start by having breakfast at our favorite bakery in France/Switzerland, sitting at the tables with the red and white checkered tablecloths by the water. The "Käse-und-speck pretzels" were gratefully devoured, giving us the energy to face the day. We stocked up on drinks because, with 30 degrees, you don't want to be without water.
We decided to first check out Austria, as this area had been renovated after the fire in June 2023. It's a very beautiful area to walk through, more spacious than the old one, with great viewpoints of the renovated Powered Coaster Alpenexpress Enzian and the revamped log flume Tiroler Wildwasserbahn.
After walking around for a bit, it was time to test the first attraction: Alpenexpress, show us what you've got! We all agreed that it ran smoothly through the track and didn't slow down for the station even after the second round—great! We also hit up the log flume, which is no punishment with this heat; this attraction has also turned out really nice.

Next up was Voltron, the park's latest addition. We had read some enthusiastic reviews here and there, so expectations were high. After waiting in line for about 50 minutes, it was finally our turn, only to (especially Supernovae78 and Coaster Iris) come out almost broken. It was a very unpleasant ride. The coaster itself is great, with cool inversions and all, but the word "smooth" doesn't exist in the vocabulary of this Mack coaster. Especially if you're sitting on the side, it's not good for your limbs.... Later we found out online that 3 out of 7 trains didn't have shock absorbers yet, so we were among the 'lucky' ones riding one of those 3 trains. Luckily, we had another day; maybe we'll have better luck then... An on-ride video was made on the second day of our visit, so it can also be found there. Especially since this was not a front-seat ride and it certainly didn't stay family-friendly.
It was already time for lunch, which we had in Ireland at "The O'Mackay’s Café and Pub." After a delicious lunch (the Shepherd’s pie there is highly recommended!), it was time to ride the most exciting coaster in the park. The Ba-a-a-Express... well, all for the YouTube channel, right... so, done with that and moving on...

It was time to visit Arthur. We enjoyed the world of this brave boy and the Minimoys, defeated the villain, and moved on with the day's agenda. Short wait time, too. We only had to queue for about 15 minutes.
It was time for another water attraction, Atlantica Supersplash, here we come! Supernovae Jr. discovered that you don't get too wet on this water coaster. Not too bad with 29 degrees and humid weather.
Wodan awaited us. Google tells me that this is the Germanic version of the god Odin, a well-known figure from Norse mythology. He is mighty, which is evident during a ride on this wooden roller coaster from GCI; the wooden duo coaster Joris en de Draak is child's play in comparison... Despite its age, this GCI coaster still offers a very pleasant ride.
From wood to steel, it's all possible... launch coaster Blue Fire, here we come! Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, so it was a rainy ride, which isn't very enjoyable! But it's still a mega coaster, with great inversions and beautiful Icelandic theming.
Seeing the threatening clouds, we decided to go on some dark rides. We were near Snorri, this cute and somewhat clumsy octopus takes you to his mysterious underwater world of Rulantica. We had visited this attraction two years ago and were impressed then, as we are now, by this fantastic dark ride. A must-do if you're visiting the park and fun for the whole family, especially if you have young children.
Earlier in the day, Piraten in Batavia was suggested, and since we were there, we decided to check it out. We're still surprised at how few visitors this attraction has; if you have to wait 5 minutes, it's a lot. And why? It's a beautiful dark water ride and doesn't deserve to be so poorly attended. Also, it's a nice break from all the coaster action, right?
The park was open until 7 PM that day, and since we wanted to spend time on the attractions, we decided to eat in Rust. On the way from our apartment to the park, we had already seen a grill restaurant, and since all three of us were in the mood for some meat, the choice was quickly made; we decided to try 'The Grill.'
For a reasonable price, you can eat well and more than enough to satisfy your hunger.
The day was over, time to watch the videos from the DJI action cam on the big screen and then head to bed around 11 PM.
