Toy Story Land for Shanghai Disney

I don't think this is news for most of us who've been following the place, but Screamscape have posted that ride parts are already on site:

Screamscape said:
According to Screamscape sources we were right on the button with our first guess... that the previously announced but then forgotten Toy Story Land will be the first new attractions added to the park after it opens.
From the sound of things it wont be a big land, but will instead consist of only two attractions (Rex's Racer and Slink Dog Spin) along with a Woody's Roundup carnival / midway style area, and a couple of food options. Rex's Racer should be the same bright-orange half-pipe looking ride that we've seen at other parks under the "RC Racer" name and Slinky Dog Spin will also be the exact same circular flat ride that was used at Hong Kong Disneyland and in Paris.
I'm not sure why the old "RC Racer" is being replaced with a "Rex" theme in Shanghai, but I'm told that the pieces for the ride are already already on-site in the backstage area somewhere, so once the park opens we should see construction begin on this right away.

Ugh, quite frankly. Ugh.

It makes sense I guess given that it's hugely popular in the Hong Kong park - it's consistently, along with Fantasyland, the busiest area - but I personally hate the idea.

It was sold as being "Asia exclusive" for Hong Kong, though only for 5 years, so in that respect it seems stupid to replicate it in a relatively nearby park.

It's a cheap, tacky, quick addition in my opinion.

Unimpressed.

I am extremely disappointed in Disney at the moment. Clones and IPs are the only thing they're making now. Especially IPs.

^Yep.

Off topic, but there are rumours of HKDL trying to fast track their next expansion to compete with Shanghai. The government are apparently ready to throw sh*tloads of money at it, which is their favourite thing to do; who needs affordable housing and pensions when you can build another white elephant to try and improve a floundering tourist industry? Based on the way things have been going, including the ridiculous length of time it's taken to build a f**king simulator, I can't get excited for any announcements.

HATE IT.

Why would you change RC Racer to Rex anyway, at least the theme fits even if the ride is turd.

**** sake, these areas are the actual worst.

RC racer looks a little pointless to me, aren't they just a pirate ship type ride on rails? A much better swinging ride for the older kids in that area would be an gyro swing like Maelstorm or Max Air. Don't know how it could be themed to Toy Story though.

^ The thing with RC Racer though is that it's, visually, the most intimidating ride in the park, but placed in the area most geared towards small kids.

Couple that with a throughput that JUST DOESN'T WORK for a Disney park, and it's an absolutely awful choice of ride. Awful.

Sad, but inevitable. Disney really need to start ASAP if they're going to carry on being s l o w

Ugh why Toy Story Land is the worrrsstt.

Hey we made this park where all the areas are unique and different to the other parks. What should we build?

****ty Toy Story Land shove it in.

NO.

Hopefully it'll have a cred.

From what I've read it's going to be 'distinctly Chinese' in styling - which could be quite interesting?
