I have never really fancied going to Asia, but it seems to be evolving its theme park buisness and getting more and more great coasters, which means recently i have warmed to the possibility of maybe visiting somewhere in Asia some time in the future. The problem is though i know very little about Asian coaster and theme parks, sure i know a few of the more obvious coasters like Pyrenees, Atlantis Adventure, T Express, Thunder Dolphin and all he coasters at Fuji Q Highlands for some reason, but i know very few other great coasters and barely anything about any of the major theme parks in Asia. Anyone who has ridden, visited or just knows more about Asian coasters and theme parks could you please tell me about some of the more major ones i would really appreciate it.

Gavin, why didn't you write some guides on some of those places for an internet roller coaster enthusiast site? That would have been awesome!

We could put them on something like, I dunno? Coasterforce.com? Then maybe in a world guides section? In Asia, so coasterforce.com/world guides/asia?

I guess the URL would end up looking like this:
http://www.coasterforce.com/world-park- ... ark-guides

I'd also make it no more than three clicks away from this page...

I've been to Chimelong Paradise and can say its worth a visit if youre in the area (i was 2 hours away but went on the train) some nice rides, and the dive machine was a walk on and it was quite busy

Back on topic..

The problem is that the 'Asia' you are talking about is such a big place. Japan and Korea have long been established in terms of theme parks, and have much to offer in terms of quality and quantity (check out all those places Gavin listed on RCDB).

China meanwhile, is evolving, and is definitely the place to watch over the next decade as an increasing number of its population earn 'middle-class' salaries and have an increasing amount of holiday allowance. Happy Valley theme parks are basically the Six Flags of China and have coasters from most of the major manufacturers including B&M, and lots that are pushing the boundaries (such as the new S&S launches).

Asia also has some fantastic Disney parks too, if that's your bag. I guess it's the desire to experience American culture that makes the Disney franchises over there go that extra mile. Tokyo Disney Sea is supposed to be fantastic and although small, I can testify that Hong Kong Disney has a great atmosphere.

Basically, a whole continent is hard to summarise and you have to do some research yourself. (Imagine the range of answers you'd get if you asked what was worth visiting in the US...and the US is just one country!)

Really? If I'm honest, I know absolutely nothing about potential parks in India. I know there's not much there at the moment, and having been to Delhi, I wouldn't suggest the health and safety would be anything like the level expected before a well known manufacturer would commit. India is still a LONG way behind China in terms of 'development' in my mind.

To be honest, I was just playing Devil's advocate. I would love to go see more of India, especially Mumbai (which I was meant to go to until my trip got cancelled due to the bombing a few years ago).
But in truth, I was shocked at how 'underdeveloped' Delhi was for a capital city in terms of housing and infrastructure etc. That wasn't a poor part of the town I took a picture of either - that was the road to the most major tourist attraction in the city!!

Seashores in a town 200 miles away from the nearest coastline? that's something!!

Hang on. Without getting my hangbag out, I didn't use the words 'on the way to tourist attractions' at all. That road is the last section down to the Red Fort which has thousands of visitors a year. That's not like the last 500m up to the Empire state at all!

The photos I picked perhaps were an extreme yes, but I was trying to put across the point (and obviously failing) that people tend to lump China and India in together when talking about 'developing' countries and that's just wrong. They are in my mind, not comparable any more because China has seen unprecedented growth in the last 20 years. Wiki says that the IMF ranks China as the 88th country in the world by GDP per capita (above European countries like Ukraine and Macedonia). India by comparison is 140th below Sudan and the Congo.

I'm not saying that I don't believe that India will grow over the next ten years, I'm sure in fact that it'll change dramatically. I agree that it's a place to watch, but I don't think I'll be planning any cred trips there soon. China on the other hand...

Also, you're not seriously comparing Beijing to Pyongyang??!!
