Tokyo Disney is celebrating 30 magical years with a whole host of new parades and entertainment. Star Tours II also opens in the next month or so. Have a crazy celebration video:

How many Disney characters can you spot and name?

In addition to this they've announced they will be spending a total of ¥200 billion between fiscal 2011 and fiscal 2020 just on its theme park business. That is one hell of a lot of money, so still lots of new attractions being built at the Resort over the next 7 years at least.

I've always thought that Disney is a bit **** with their anniversary stuff.

It's a prime time to roll out something major, but they all just seem to chuck in a new parade or firework show or some other such gash.

I am fine with celebrating anniversaries as long as they don't pull a DLP and drag their celebrations for their 20th anniversary until they can celebrate their 25th.

Still, a parade and the renovated Star Tours does not sound all too exciting. When was the last time Tokyo received something big? (Not TokyoDisney Sea)

^I think it was Monsters Inc about 3 years ago.

Even DisneySea has only really had Toy Story Mania in the last few years.

Disney tend to leave new rides until after the anniversary year so the fact Tokyo has even opened Star Tours II during one is odd tbh.

Also, moaning about lack of new attractions? Why not notice the news of a huge sum of cash specifically for the parks? That's clearly a few new rides at least?

^Yeah, that number is actually huge.

It works out at around £1.3 billion, or £145 million per year over the 2011 - 2020 period.

My bet is that we'll see a lot of that money being spent in the years after Shanghai opens.
