Timeshares

So my family and I are members of the DVC (Disney Vacation Club), which is basically just a timeshare with Disney. This means that we go to Disney World twice a year using our "points" to pay for the accommodations at a Disney resort.
I was wondering if any other CFers are DVC members, or if there are other timeshare(ish) things at other parks or resorts that are exciting or worthwhile that CFers are a part of.

Yep we are DVC members as well.

We have used it for Orlando, California and Paris.

To get these points do you have to stay at a Disney hotel?

Nope you can stay at other hotels all around the world.

We can get hotels in Paris, New York, London etc.

Basically your paying the price of a lower hotel to stay in a top hotel.

Every two years we can go and when the loans cleared in a few years it will cost $800 a year and we can go to Orlando every two years or where ever.

Works out at about $1600 for to of us to stay at the top hotels so that's about £1000 for two of us instead of £2000 each.

Only problem is we don't get the offers like free tickets and dining plan so the saving is not as great as it sounds.

So far we've only used our points in orlando and once at vero beach, but hopefully we'll get out to another location soon

Which resort do you stay in?

our favorite is definitely Old Key West because the rooms are a lot bigger than in the other resorts, but we have stayed in most of the resorts. We have not yet stayed at the Beach club or the new contemporary, though. You?
