According to "La Vanguardia," Terra Mitica theme park in Benidorm, Spain is proceeding with its on-again, off-again plan to add resort hotels to its complex. Three themed hotels with a total of 1,000 rooms will be developed and constructed, with Aqualandia group operating the hotels and acting as director of the project. The proposal to add hotels to Terra Mitica dates back to 2012 but delays involving permitting and funding pushed back the timelines, with no official opening dates set. Each hotel is themed to match one of the lands featured within Terra Mitica. The first will be based on Egypt, the other two hotels themes have not been announced. Terra Mitica's themed lands are based on Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and the Islands.
