Thorpe Park moan about Six Flags copying Swarm

I thought this came up in the Swarm topic somewhere? I remember seeing that page before.

As for the story? I just think it's a bit laughable. Clearly Thrope are trying to use this to their advantage in some way, but I can't work it out! I think the "Thorpe Park Inversion" is a load of **** too. Sure it's the first ride in the world (well, joint with X-Flight now) that starts with an inversion like that (is it? :P), but at the end of the day it's nothing new.

Yeah, this was discussed in the construction thread a while back. Its obviously a load of **** made up by some sadcase fanboy.

Yeah I call BS on this one.

What is it with the amount of fake stuff going around the enthusiast forums these days.

Thorpe Park are just bragging that they've getting a taller wingrider than a SF park and that the 'Thorpe park' inversion is 'sooo awesome' that Six flags have copied it...

No hard feelings though!

"THE THORPE PARK INVERSION".

**** arseholes. Whoever wrote that article from Thorpe Park, needs to get charged with gross negligence. It's such a dire message...

Umm....isn't it just a dive loop without a speedy start?

Maybe someone should message them and point out that they stole it from all the people who used it in the RCT series :P

Switching between the hideouts'...

At least they didn't put the word "Inversion" in all caps. So I presume it could be worse, after all.

And isn't it a Twisting Dive anyway? It sorta resembles a Flying Snake Dive as well, but as it only rolls once, it could technically be a "new" inversion.

Though, why they didn't give it a better name is beyond me. Even "Thorpe Park Dive" would have been an improvement.

Dear Thorpe Park,

Stop trying to make "fetch" happen.

Thanks

I actually found it mildly amusing.

Perhaps it's because I'm frothing at the gash for this ride and I like anything to do with it?

Clearly just trying to get the inversion to be commonly referred to as the "THORPE PARK Inversion". Can we all call it the Great America Inversion please?

That's complete turd. For starters, I'm not convinced that it's an "official" statement from the park. Secondly, if they were that bothered about being the only one with that element, they'd have signed an exclusive deal with B&M (Didn't Busch do something like that with the rights to build DMs in the US?). They clearly didn't, so they've got no right to moan. Also, how many of Thorpe's visitors are ever likely to visit Great America (that's the ones that have even HEARD of it)? Hell, how many of Thorpe's hardcore Fanboys are ever likely to visit Great America?!

If they have a patent for the element then I could agree with them, but I don't think that it would be possible to get since there already are similar inversions in the world (Togo - Twist and Dive). It would be the same thing if SFMM start to complain about people using a loop in their coaster...

Stupid...

Fan-made tripe imo.

"While we could be bitter about this" ... just the wording sounds highly unprofessional.

Thorpe Park Inversion... :?

It should be called a 'Divebomb' or something. I doubt it's Thorpe Park, as said it's some sad TP fanboy pissed about Six Flags surprise.
