Thorpe Park Fright nights

pitchnoir

Mega Poster
(Ok first of all if this has already been posted/in the wrong area please delete or move, cheers)

Anyways as you all know, halloween is just round the corner and thus thought why not post this up for the world ( or whoever is bored) to read :P

So fright nights at torpe have always been fun, but new mazes only come round once in a blue moon, so news has been passed about mazes coming and going. Hellgate has/is going along with the supposed scare zone they created last year which was well utter **** lol

So you ask what is new?
well seeing as the swarm is coming up, thorpe have decided to expand the themeing a little with a new maze experiment 10. Below i have added a few images to wet the appite so to speak, so chat amongst yourselves and what not and have a giggle

oh and also a question to ask......if they are wearing bio hazard gear why the hell are they not wearing gloves? defeats the purpose of the suit does it not?

More images can be found on thorpes twitter and facebook pages

Also, i have on good authority where each maze is being held.

The curse and seven are on neptunes beach,
experiment 10 is within the area
and the asylum is where it normally is =]

They're going to squeeze in Seven on the beach too? Interesting idea.

I love how Merlin's favourite unit type (shipping containers) are being used for experiment 10. Meh, I might do one or two at Ghosterforce if there is time but I'm not the biggest fan of horror walkthroughs.

Someone at Merlin CLEARLY has a shipping container fetish.

Saw Store,
Th13teen shop
Twilight Zone
Alton 2012 ride
The Swarm
and now this lol.

This will be the first year I probably won't get to go to Fright Nights. The only reason I want to go is to try the new maze.

I see Thorpe have decided not to bring back their Scare Zone this year. I wonder why. :P lol

Or, it COULD be that they are cheap.

Yeah, it's your reasoning. We bought two for Scare Kingdom. We have an attraction in them both. They're great. In the off-season, you can do work on them and such, so when you add them in place for the season, there's actually a LOT less to do and you can spend your time on other things. I'm not saying that that is what Thorpe Park have done, but, yes, it is due to pricing.

I agree, easy enough to store and cheap to buy and also change if need.

But i doubt the containers are for the maze itself (maybe themeing) because their are already people within scare attractions that i know which have said work has already started and the containers turned up after these points were said, but hey we can be wrong somtimes

^ That's a lot of money just spent on masses of theming for no apparent reason. These are big pieces, you wouldn't just buy them for theming purposes. Unless, they already had them and as a PR Stunt, they've themed them up, but still, it's pointless to do? Could possibly be part of the queue etc? My bets are still on it being used in some way as the haunt itself, as I said in my post before this, they may have already started the work INSIDE the containers before moving them?

The maze will be in the container. They did it at Chessington earlier this year, so why is it hard to believe they'd do it at Thorpe? Just throw together a few hardboad "walls" inside, and jobs a good'un.

Oh yeah, it worked really well at that Chessington event earlier in the year.

LOL, jk, I've no idea cause I didn't make the invite cut despite living in London.

Edit V Well, someone went to Specsavers.

^Bitter much? :P

Yeah, the one at Chessington wasn't great. I think there's only so much you can do with a shipping container. The only good bit was the corridor that got narrower and narrower. The rest was... meh.

To be fair, that's not exactly true, you can do a LOT with a shipping container, in terms of this subject. It's just wether you actually choose to, or not. The one at Chessington's was for families, no matter what people say, it was aimed to cater for younger guests too. Where as the one at Thorpe won't exactly be fully catered towards the younger end of the spectrum.

^I'd disagree. There's not really a lot of space in a shipping container, so the experience is only ever going to be **** (ie. long narrow corridors snaking through the space with little room for any theming) or it's going to be too short (you wouldn't get more than two, possibly three, really well themed rooms inside one.

Sure Chessington's was for families, but that didn't mean it had to be short. They used the narrow corridor method and it was still short.

Space isn't everything when inside Scare/Haunted Attractions. Some of the best ones in the world have such a small layout. The fact is, if they go all out, add great theming, the actors go for it and the story is apparent, then either the space or actual housing of the attraction means nothing.

I've been in some absolute **** attractions which have a lot bigger settings/buildings and like I said, they've been ****. Where as some that I've done which have been trailer based/container based, they've been excellent. Space and size isn't everything, as long as there's good actors, theming and storyline, you don't need space at all.

Some of the UK Halloween Attractions that get great reviews every year have attractions housed in these types of containers, that's why I'm staying optimistic and seeing that they don't NEED a massive **** looking marquee. At least this industrial theme kind of fits in with the theme...

This will be ****. It's Thorpe. Trust. ;)

I liked the one at CWOA.

I really wish people would stop bashing Thorpe "because it's Forpe". IMO, they put on one of the best, if not the best Halloween events at a UK theme park. Extra late openings, atmospheric lighting/music, loads of mazes and other spooky ****. If I were to take an American to a UK theme park at Halloween, I'd take them to Thorpe.

Although I won't be bothering with the mazes because they're not my thang.

Completely agree with this.

Last time I went to the Fright Nights, it was **** awsome.
