Theme park hangover

FaceYourNemesis

Hyper Poster
You know what I'm talking about: Sore lips, dry face, post coaster blues, aches and pains....

Who else suffers from it, and what do you do to get through it? :)

I thought this was going to be, "Have you been to a park hungover", but then I read it and thought it was even more ridiculous then my idea..

The answer is No, I actually don't have a clue what you're on about. When the Off-Season starts, it's kinda like I wanna go and ride something but can't - Am I heading in the right way to this topic? I'm ever so confused!

^No. Be quiet Loftz.

He means like, the next day you feel a bit crappy. Which I guess is true. Maybe. A little tired I guess? I might have a lazy next day or an extra half spoon of coffee in the morning? I don't spend the next day throwing up and feeling crappy like a PROPER hangover though...

Theme Parks hangovers after a day at a theme park with a hangover are the actual worst... I did Drayton one day after a bottle of Absynth the night before, and the day after was gross... Though I barely remember much about the day at Drayton either.

I suffer from it.

I get over it by jumping back on CF, that way the park visit never ends

FaceYourNemesis (from here on in to be known as FYN because FaceYourNemesis is an arse to type), you forgot to add dry hands. That's the only physical condition I suffer. Easily sorted with a bit of hand cream through. Oooo, mince.

Once that I can remember (if you mean it like this).

At Belmont Park a couple of years ago, I went on one of those Flow Rider things and was alright for the rest of the day...
The next day when I woke up, I almost couldn't move. All my muscles were stiff, my back was hurting, and I was struggling to stretch. The effects didn't fully go away for about 3 days after that!
I'd definitely do a Flow Rider again though, as it was a hell of a lot of fun! :P

^Haha, yeah, I got that as well <//3 It doesn't help you're knackered ANYWAY, but, all the exercise of that thing made me ache like Hell the next day too <//3

I was amazing at that... and I stood up WITHOUT a rope... FIRST... and no-one cared cause OH, Elissa stands up using a rope ¬_¬

Hmm good topic.

Ian once told me it was called 'Theme Park Glow'. The after effects of windburn on your face and a warm feeling inside. I definitely get an adrenaline buzz for a while, followed by a lull the next day.

The only time I've really felt physical exhaustion was after the Blackpool live, where we just did so much in one day, that the next day I felt drained and bruised. That doesn't normally happen though. :--D

Shame, because I remember people thinking I was pretty awesome when I did the bodyboarding first time! ;)

I thnk we were more amazed by your massive girly scream than your surfing skills anyway!

I'm pretty tall (no one else on this forum that's tall?) so most of the OTSRs hurt my shoulders. Gerstaluer eurofighters are the worst but B&M are pretty bad too :( The only ones I can say are good is Vekoma and newer Intamins :) So after riding multiple rerides on B&Ms I've bruises on my shoulders for a couple of days afterwards..

Other than that I often feel the speed and g's of the ride when I lay down in my bed at the evening. It's just like when you've been on a boat for a really long time and then get to land and still feel the waves of the ocean, a pretty cool feeling! :P

Very much so. If you've ridden a lot in one day the drive home can be a strange sensation too. It's like a light-headedness that must be caused by a lot of high Gs. The other symptoms are all the same if you spend any long day outside.

Only instance I can recall is after a 14 hour visit to Kings Island during Halloween Haunt. We did a solid day of constant riding, and then went until 2:30 a.m. at night doing the haunts around the park. And then ate White Castle when all was said and done.

The next day was awful, I slept for 13 hours and woke up achy, with a headache, and a heavy case of the munchies.

I'm reasonably tall (6ft 3) but I only ever suffer those kinds of injuries on Vekoma's really. The rest sit comfortably on my wide, flat shoulders.

I don't really suffer any "hangover" conditions after a day of theme parking. Usually, I feel a little more limber and I have a lot of energy, so I suppose if anything it's more of a plus than a negative.

But sometimes for 2-day coaster sessions (such as Ghosterforce), I'm usually shattered, but I put that down to 12 hours+ at Thorpe in long queues and a lack-of-sleep.

It's dehydration, with a hint of tiredness - why I always feel broken when I get in from any park, and why I'm flagging a bit by the end of nearly any day. I guess it is kind of like a hangover - there's a good bit building up to it and everything.

As for parks hungover... well, I'd rather not go into it. Chessington :( Pleasurewood Hills :( :( Mirabilandia :( :( :( etc.

Never really gave something like this much thought, but now it's been mentioned, then yes,I do get it.

Tiredness is the main one,I always feel a bit groggy and spaced out the next day,due mainly to early starts and late finishes.

Same as.

I tend not to drink as much as I should, and end up with a bad headache.

You think that's bad.. try doing a whole damn trip with us. I averaged like 6 hours of sleep.. on top of driving 4 hours a day.. on top of walking all day.. but it is ****ing epic. :D

Actually, Matt, the one time I can remember true 'hangover' was when we rode TTD over and over one night.. and my lips burned the next day from the ride. <3

I think I nearly suffered from brain swelling when at Alton with Ben, Richie and Cathy a few years ago. We totally abused the free refills, and probably drank a gallon of coke each in the day. It was fab <3.
