Great news. Finally it seems this might get the go ahead although I wonder how far £3.7m will go when having to build nearly an entire amusement park.
I keep on forgetting about Maragte until it appears up in the news now and then. The UK really needs a newish park and I'm really hoping this goes ahead.
Hmmm, I was always under the impression that the insurance companies were demanding that a certain company and its owner (namely Jimmy Godden... who has had several attraction burning to the ground) would have to pay for this...
Either way it is fantastic news and it is good to see that heritage is being protected!
Mark, the insurance company are paying for the rebuild. However, the rebuild is linked to the redevelopment of the park as a whole. Imagine them rebuilding exactly as was, but the tunnel under the structure isn't included in the new development plans - getting the go ahead to move on with the development means the rebuild can happen with the new plans so they happen together. If that makes sense?
