Scarecrows!

Pierre

Strata Poster
So yesterday me and the fam went out to Muston (just near Scarborough) as they have a Scarecrow Festival on each year. The scarecrows are made by the residents of the village and are dotted around the whole village, in peoples houses, at roadsides, the village green e.t.c and there are some really good ones!

It was a nice day out in the sunshiinneeeeeeee!! Anyway, take a gander at them :)

Good FREE day out haha :)

Hahaha, I love **** like this. <3

Does nobody else think:

a) The plastic faces make them more models than scarecrows?
b) scarecrows are sinister as ****?

There are a couple of these festivals around here, in backward inbred villages. You can imagine the parish council meetings "animal rape is on the rise again, we need to think of something to keep people occupied... How about making scarecrows?"

Did you get any photos of them?

Like Ian said, this kind of **** is funny, and enjoyable, simply because it's so ****, and kids and stuff enjoy it I'm sure.

These weird little village traditions are quite interesting though, it's like one of those things from that Rory and Paddy show on Channel 5 (which was actually quite good - for Channel 5).

I've just noticed that nearly every "piece" has a rosette... is it one of those everyone's-a-winner things, so not to disappoint anyone?

There was two top-tens... one from official judges and one that had bene voted on by visitors.

Given the village probably has an occupancy of about 12 I reckon only a couple of people are left broken-hearted each year.

Has anyone ever been to the Groombridge scarecrow festival? That always puts me on edge - some really scary candidates there.
Scarecrows always remind me of reading Howl's Moving Castle as a kid and being scared ****!
