*Disclaimer* I did have photos but I dropped my phone into a jug of Can't Get You Out Of My Head and killed it, therefor this report will go ahead photoless until said phone has been revived.

So it recently came to our attention that Twinlakes appear to have relaxed a bit on their 'no adults sans child' rule, so combining this information with an upcoming trip to Manchester we decided to detour via Melton Mowbray for a sneaky +2.

It's pretty much in the middle of a field and anybody who has been to either of the Crealy parks will have a vague idea of what to expect from this sort of place; a **** load of play equipment, sheds of JOY containing slides of DEATH, a dash of casual copyright infringement and some crappy creds.

We didn't have much time in the park as we had some serious drinking to be getting on with, so we b-lined straight towards the first cred of the day, Buffalo Stampede, which is one of those crap powered things similar to the one at Drayton. It was turd. +1

After this we minced over to the 'China' area of the park which boasted a Dragon Falls better themed than its Chessington namesake and decided against wetness this time round. There was also a panda play area where we faffed and took panda selfies.

Next up was the 'Greece' area, complete with authentic theming such as a JCB digger, pirate ship and Wacky Worm coaster. I was irritated because I thought I'd finished all the Big Apples in the UK; I was wrong. There was a slight queue, but loads of adults so no shame. The drop was heavily trimmed. +1

Exiting the cred we noticed Twinlakes have a weird policy where they lock the exits gates, causing a big stupid queue and faff upon leaving the ride whilst you wait for the ride-op to release you. Burdenous.

We then entered the first shed of JOY that had a Roman theme (apparently). There was actually a quite good mirror maze that we got lost in for a tad and had to negotiate via the use of centurion markers. Also, DEATH SLIDES *heavy metal riff and air guitar*. We decided against because of the shame and found our way out and into shed two. This was themed to pirates/under the sea and had an indoor rapids ride. Crapids. The 'theming' effort was CRAP, half of the props still had barcodes stuck on them and it was all very dull. The most entertaining part was where Nic almost capsized <3

This shed also housed a massive air gun ball snooty game thing, but the shame once again drove us away and we ditched shed two and in classic theme park style, exited through the gift shop.

There were a couple of haunts to walk through so Ed and I ventured in whilst Nic annoyed some peacocks. They were realllllyyyyy long, dark and empty of scare actors despite the multiple signs warning that we would very definitely experience some scare actors and we MUST NOT TOUCH THEM. Meh.

We ended our afternoon at Twinlakes with a sashay through the fab farm. And then there was a shed full of bunnies and I died.

Twinlakes is actually awful apart from the main shed and the pitch black walk through (can't think what it's called). The DEATH slide is amazing, as is the shot/drop tower (Trauma towers) complete with its 2 levels of viewing balconies.

The mirror maze was substandard and cheap (so I'm told).

I'm guessing you didn't look into the +1 at Wheelgate? It's only 20 mins away but I think you need a child.

Anyways, glad you had a fab time.

I'm intrigued, what is a 'jug of can't get you out of my head'.

GAY cocktail ;]

And nah, we barely had time for Twinlakes, but I'll probs head into Wheelgate at some point this year as we easily sashayed into Twinlakes and they are sister parks so I assume they'll have the same policies.

Nice report, sounds like you had a fun time. I still need the creds annoyingly.

air gun ball snooty game thing

This made me lol and made me think of an air gun room thing filled with snooty people going...

*P.S. Never go searching for Nigel Thornberry, there's a scary part of the internet associated with him. Cannot unsee.

Hahahaha stupid auto-correct!

And yh I can imagine John, the internet can be a dark and disturbing place when it wants to be XD

That about sums it up for Twinlakes. I'm still trying to get around to posting my trip report from several weeks ago.

We got to meet the bunnies in real life, outside of the cage. It was fab!

The mazes were also really good for such an awful little place. I say awful, it's just about adequate for a family with under sixes. Everything is classic British "it'll do", completely missing the point (the Crapids is my favourite example of this in the UK, it's abysmal).

I think you'll find that it's a low quality mirror maze.

I hope you enjoyed the crapids bin liner theme <3

It was good in the sense that I actually managed to get lost in it, which is surely what mazes are for? But yes, the quality, as with everything at TL, was minimal.

The crapids, and the park in general, seemed to put these gross black wigs on everything so we played 'weave or Jordan's hair extensions?' <3

We arrived at the park and were greeted by an exciting sight... a sign explaining that they have planted over 1 million bulbs around the park! Oh, and a super hero horse, of course.

Overall, it's a fairly promising start

Once in the park, they were very keen to remind you about the 1 million bulbs.

First ride of the day was the Buffalo coaster. This was a little disappointing to be honest:

Next up was the big apple, sorry, the weirdly greek themed big apple. It was also pretty underwhelming:

We then headed inside to the mirror maze. I love the effort they've put in, even indoors:

Onto the pirate themed shed next, and the best ride of the day - the bin bag slowpids. No bulbs in here sadly, unless palm trees grow from bulbs?

They made me leave without riding the porn ponies :(

Overall, the park was alright. It was a bit like the Crealy parks really. Lots of sheds full of slides, with a few mediocre kids rides in between, and some random animals. Overall, it just seems to be a bit more bland than promised
