Plopsaland de Panne - Tivoli removed?

peep

CF Legend
We had noticed the other week that RCDB.com had updated the park's page with a new Viktor's Race opening next year. Details on what will be built are minimal and some sites are suggesting that it's only the ride motors which will be removed/replaced.

Below is a photo from a fansite of the de-construction. So far the station and lift hill train has been removed.

If they do replace it with a new coaster, they could send the old one to Holiday Park. That place could really use a family friendly coaster.

According to the latest issue of First Drop magazine, it says that the park will be building a new coaster and will give it the same name but it's not known who the manufacturer is yet :)

Viktor's Race is actually the oldest Belgian rollercoaster. It will just be replaced by the exact same model of rollercoaster.

If that is true it's kind of weird. I know it may have a historical value for he park, but this model isn't really that spectacular, even for the small ones.

Hopefully the new coaster will be nice.

I'm with you on this one; I'm sure that most people are hoping it will be awful!

Hopefully it will combine the overall shakiness of furius baco, the headbanging of the worst SLC, the reliabilty of an intamin, and the fun of a big apple!

Combine that with the safety and track shaping of a Chinese knockoff coaster and you've essentially described all of our hopes for this ride. ;)

Actually - I missed out the "ever tightening restraints" from gforce at drayton manor, and posssibly those vile OTSRs on powerparks boomerange

I was wondering what this coaster was and thinking 'Damn, did I miss out on a cred back in July?!'

Thankfully I didn't :P I can't really remember much of this ride but if it's going to be the same then that's cool. Being one of Belgium's oldest coasters, it was in need of being 'upgraded'.

So it's official, they've just purchased brand new track and supports (still totally counts as a new cred). I think they've made some further adjustments to the train too. Still, loads of new photos....

I assume the track was just in a bad state and causing maintenance issues for the train. That's the only reason I can think of.

But why spend the money on a new coaster, that's the same as the old one? Get a completely different coaster and they can then market/promote it etc?

The coaster was the park's first so I think they felt it needed to stay to keep the loyal fans pleased. Clearly makes more financial sense to update a popular attraction than to get rid of it and upset guests at the same time.
