Hi coasternuts, i am new to the forum so please bear with me if this has been asked before :? . I am going to France in early JUly with my wife and six year old son. We are doing Disney because we have annual tickets, bought last year because it was cheaper than buying 3 2-day tickets, no really, it was. But we want to do one more park and are torn between ASterix and Europa. I love coasters, the hairier the better  , my wee boy likes em too but he's still only little, and the wife can take or leave em  but she goes along for the atmosphere and to see us having fun :--D . So, you've probably already guessed the question but, which should we do? I don't want to do both as my wee wife is very good at tolerating my juvenile behaviour (i am 42), and i don't want to push me luck. I want the one that has the most appeal for a 6 year old, and which will bore the wife senseless the least, but would also like to be able to cover the park in a day as far as possible. We will be there before England/France get their school holidays, and will be going on a week day. Hope you guys can help.

Europa Park.

Not even a question.

Europa is without a doubt of the best parks in the World, and my favourite European park. Parc Asterix is a little ****. It's also GORGEOUS, full of things to just look at, full of family rides, and it has Blue Fire which is a better coaster than ANYTHING at Asterix.

Europa is just... stunning. Do it.

Welcome to the forums Mark. If you want to tie it in with a trip to DLP then Asterix is really your only choice (with Europa being in Germany) unless you want lots of travel-based times between days at parks.

I've not been to Europa but it looks beautiful and the ride collection there is fantastic.

Parc Asterix is also great with something for the whole family. There are a few shows that are entertaining (even if you don't understand French) and the rides are excellent. It has a great atmosphere like Disney and you'll probably have a great day there.

Europa really can say quite easily it has something for everyone... And is generally immense...

BUT, as John said, it's really about your preference for travelling, as according to RCDB, Europa is 230 miles away from Disney... Whilst Asterix is only 20 miles...

Alternatively you could fly from Paris to... Wherever is closest to Europa... Black Forest Airport is apparently the closest...

But really, the choice is down to travelling... Having not been to Asterix (yet) I cannot say with any confidence what that park is like... But Ben is correct that Europa is amazing... But it CANNOT be done in one day as well...

Hey markyinireland. Welcome to Coasterforce.

This topic would probably be better suited in Polls and Opinions, but since you're new here I'll leave it for now in case you wonder what happened to it. When you post in here again, I'll assume that you've read this post and will then move the topic.

thanks y'all for the quick replies! :P Moderator, sorry about not putting this in the right place, i'm sort of new to this type of thing, and at 42 it takes a bit longer to learn which button to hit :? i'll try to move it but i've no problem if you do it for me. Finally to the guys who replied, travelling is not an issue. We are in a vw camper, travelling through England from Northern Ireland, we are doing a couple of days at Eurodisney :) , a few days at Le Lac d'Orient cool) then hitting the French alps for a week and a half  , then coming back via one or other of the parks mentioned, distance-wise they are both pretty much en route from the Alps to Calais so no issues  . Europa seems to be winning the poll at the minute but there's time yet. Ta again.

Europa Park is a wonderful park, especially for children! There is so much to do, which is a good thing of course, but bare in mind that it'll be hard to do everything in one day..

The only thing I have to complain of is that it both the "adult" rides (Blue Fire and Silver Star) are on the weaker side of the force scale, I missed a really thrilling ride. But that's really not a big problem since there is so much else to do, the park should suit your family perfect! :)

Thanks again guys, it looks like Europa park unless anyone thinks otherwise. I'll let y'all know how it goes.
