Confirmed in Le Parisien yesterday, Parc Astérix is planning to add its ninth rollercoaster in 2025 on the site of the former antique cars ride, which was removed at the end of 2023. The source states that the ride will come with a height requirement of just one meter, and will sport a Gaullic theme to complement the nearby Menhir Express log flume. The addition is a part of a project to slowly dismantle the park’s ”Rue de Paris” area and create a more consistent thematic identity across the park, with much of its current space expected to be taken up by rethemes and new additions integrated into the nearby Egypt and Gaullic areas.

As for where in the park this will be located, it’s to the south of the aforementioned log flume:

Walls went up at the end of last season, meaning construction has already commenced:

Passengers will face each other according to the park says Looopings.
Combined with the family coaster label and only 1 meter as height requirement I cannot think of anything else than a Mack Spinning coaster, which would be a nice fit to the park!

I also thought this will be a spinning coaster. But i think it will be a Gerstlauer and not a Mack spinning coaster

I think those have a height requirement of 1m10 and with the single coach trains the capacity would be very bad for such a large park (Disneyland, pay attention 😉). With the different coaches on the Mack trains you can still face each other from one coach to the other.

Hope so Mack spinners are fantastic, hope its a custom layout although i do like the clones too

Here is a fictional fan animation, I think they have done a great job of what the coaster could be like.

Now thats a hella cute addition if it was going to be it. Could see Alton Towers replacing Spinball with a themed experience like this.

I think Asterix needs a high quality dark ride or two more than it needs another low throughput family coaster. It already has Pègase Express, SOS Tournevis, Vol D’icare and Trace Du Hourra that all fill that family coaster element.

Even with a continuously moving station, Crush’s Coaster has a poor throughput. There is no 4 seater train that can have a good throughput even if you add 20 blocks.

Meanwhile Matterhorn Blitz doing is more pph than anything at Towers ;)
You do say some weird things 😂 😂 😂

Blitz has a max theoretical of 960 rph... Oblivion has been running on 6 trains and both stations, even a team of poorly trained, one armed, monkeys, having a banana break every 2 minutes, could beat 960 with Oblivion on 6 and 2. (Fairly sure you know this, but just in case, Oblivion has a theoretical max of 1900 rph. To achieve that they only need to despatch every 60 seconds.)

Why do people act like spinners are low capacity rides? They can have surprisingly high capacities

They 'can' be, but Asterix isn't Europa Park... I joke with @VonRolland but the point he was originally making is still valid. To hit over 960 rph with 4 seats, they'd need to despatch a train every 15 seconds. I'm not even sure Europa Park hits their theoretical max, and they consistently have by far the best ops I've experienced anywhere, ever.

Would love to have seen Oblivion operate back in 98/99 an absolute capacity machine, can oblivion do more than Matterhorn Blitz? Probably but every time I've been and worked out its capacity its rarely got over 950pph.
More of a comment to how impressive Matterhorn is only having 4 per train and still doing just shy of 1000pph where as Oblivion has 16 per train (4 trains worth on Matterhorn) and matching or only just exceeding these days
