I had an amazing time at Oakwood yesterday. Me, my Dad and five friends drove down on Narberth at 12:30 and arrived at 18:45. We then put up the tent, played a bit of rugby, had a barbeque and went to bed. We woke up at 08:00, had some breakfast and put down the tent.
As we approached the park at 09:50, none of the rides were testing, even though the park was opening at 10:00. We paid for our tickets and boarded the little train to the park. We ran straight to Speed and although I hadn't seen any testing, they still let us on to the first car of the day. The park was reasonably empty and we got around five rides in around 25 minutes, even though there was only one train running all day. Speed blew all of my expectations away; the airtime was INSANE on the drop and airtime hill. We all agreed that the front row, far right seat was incredibly rough and horrible. The best seats IMO were the back far left and right.
Up next was Bounce, it was really bad compared to all other drop towers I have been on and not worth queuing more than 10 minutes for.
We then headed over to Megafobia which too was only running one train but was still a walk on. I rode back row which was very disappointing, rough, forceless and boring. We went round again, this time going front row. The difference was huge! The front was glass smooth and full of airtime; I hardly touched the seat all the way through!
We then went on the Treetops Coaster which was fun at the back but nothing special. Next up was Waterfall which was incredible fun. I laughed so hard at this little boy who wasn’t heavy enough to get to the end and had to walk through the water.
Next up was Bobsleigh, which was very fun indeed; we got five rides on it as they allowed us to stay on because nobody was in the queue. We then conquered the Wall of Death (I can’t remember what the real name of it is). It is very steep and quite scary! We then whored Speed some more as there was no queue. By this time Hydro was about to open so we walked towards it, getting four rides on Megafobia on the way as the ride op let us stay on. She also let slip that Oakwood may be getting a Huss Ferris wheel ride similar to Enterprise at Alton Towers next year.
We then got onto Hydro, which got us insanely wet. It was literally like taking a shower! We tried to go in the dryer thing but it was broken. We then returned to the car in our very wet clothes not looking forward to the 7 hour drive home.
Overall I had a very good day out. Well worth the journey as well! The staff were great, the rides were awesome and the food was cheap and tasty!
Ride Count:
Speed - 14
Megafobia - 6
Bounce - 2
Waterfall - 5
Hydro - 1
Bobsleigh - 5
Clown Coaster - 1
