I had an amazing time at Oakwood yesterday. Me, my Dad and five friends drove down on Narberth at 12:30 and arrived at 18:45. We then put up the tent, played a bit of rugby, had a barbeque and went to bed. We woke up at 08:00, had some breakfast and put down the tent.

As we approached the park at 09:50, none of the rides were testing, even though the park was opening at 10:00. We paid for our tickets and boarded the little train to the park. We ran straight to Speed and although I hadn't seen any testing, they still let us on to the first car of the day. The park was reasonably empty and we got around five rides in around 25 minutes, even though there was only one train running all day. Speed blew all of my expectations away; the airtime was INSANE on the drop and airtime hill. We all agreed that the front row, far right seat was incredibly rough and horrible. The best seats IMO were the back far left and right.

Up next was Bounce, it was really bad compared to all other drop towers I have been on and not worth queuing more than 10 minutes for.

We then headed over to Megafobia which too was only running one train but was still a walk on. I rode back row which was very disappointing, rough, forceless and boring. We went round again, this time going front row. The difference was huge! The front was glass smooth and full of airtime; I hardly touched the seat all the way through!

We then went on the Treetops Coaster which was fun at the back but nothing special. Next up was Waterfall which was incredible fun. I laughed so hard at this little boy who wasn’t heavy enough to get to the end and had to walk through the water.

Next up was Bobsleigh, which was very fun indeed; we got five rides on it as they allowed us to stay on because nobody was in the queue. We then conquered the Wall of Death (I can’t remember what the real name of it is). It is very steep and quite scary! We then whored Speed some more as there was no queue. By this time Hydro was about to open so we walked towards it, getting four rides on Megafobia on the way as the ride op let us stay on. She also let slip that Oakwood may be getting a Huss Ferris wheel ride similar to Enterprise at Alton Towers next year.

We then got onto Hydro, which got us insanely wet. It was literally like taking a shower! We tried to go in the dryer thing but it was broken. We then returned to the car in our very wet clothes not looking forward to the 7 hour drive home.

Overall I had a very good day out. Well worth the journey as well! The staff were great, the rides were awesome and the food was cheap and tasty!

Ride Count:
Speed - 14
Megafobia - 6
Bounce - 2
Waterfall - 5
Hydro - 1
Bobsleigh - 5
Clown Coaster - 1

Photos later when I'm not so busy. :--D

Oakwood is such a nice park. It's usually always quiet and it's really easy to enjoy yourself. It's probably one of my favourite parks actually and Megafobia is amazing. :)

Sounds like you had a great trip :D Megafobia is only good in the front seats, and Speed is moderately good anywhere. I never found it rough in any seat I sat in.

I find Megafobia amazing everywhere you sit. But it's been almost 12 months since I've last ridden it. :(

Rubbish, second hill at the back is one of my top ten coaster moments! You're all pants!

Sounds more worrying than anything. The fact the park is quiet isn't actually a good sign. Great for re-riding, but bad for business...

Glad you enjoyed it Ali :D. I've not been this year yet, well done on making the effort to get down here!

Furie speaks the truth! Back row is awesomeness.

Hmm, it's early in the season yet, but it's school hols too :?.

me.

glad to see that the queues where allright , I met up with ploddish and his bro ,had a great trip yesterday , and somehow i bumped into leighton :| ;)
more about that laters lol.

I don't think its going to be a good year for Oakwood, they've not installed anything big for 3 years and they have the Big 4 to compete with in the UK.

thats not always the case dave.
Oakwood is a lovely park , and most people think its exellent for day trips etc.

They have something which the UK Hasnt got , The Tallest Euro fighter , all round oakwood breaks records , and thats why i think enfusiasts go there ,

Mega phobia - voted 20th best in the world
Hydro - Tallest Water Ride In Europe
Speed , Tallest Geaustleur Euro Fighter In The World. (i thinks anyways)

There you go ;)

Yes I know that ;)

But come on, if you've got Blackpool and Alton Towers in (somewhat) close proximity and they boast newer rides than you and a better line up, most thrillseekers (i.e. teenagers) will go elsewhere.

I'm not saying they won't get anyone at all, just that it won't be that much, as they haven't put anything in the last few years thats drawn anyone in. But sometimes Oakwood does pull people in because it is the only thing there, maybe cept Folly Farm ;)
