New coaster for Yomiuriland

Yay?

I was hoping to see something a bit more major, given that they'll be clearing a lot of space when they get rid of White Canyon.

Actually, having said that, it obviously wouldn't be possible to get anything on that site to open this year, so there's still hope for the future I guess.

It just feels as if the park has completely stagnated over the last few years.

At least its a coaster, More of a replacement for SL coaster rather than White Canyon i guess.
The Japanese market has been fairly slow recently it seems.

^The only Japanese parks I ever had to stand in a queue for were Disney, Fuji-Q and Universal. Even on weekends in summer, the other parks - even the bigger ones like Nasu Highlands - seem to be empty.

It might just have been weird timing on my part, obviously, but I always thought it was weird that there are so many parks in Japan, but only a very small number of them attract any real significant numbers.

It is a timing thing. The second time I went to Arakawa-Yuen was on a Sunday and it was packed to the gills. The stupid Wacky Worm had a 45 minute wait. The first time I did that park, the Togo coaster was a walk-on.

I quickly learned to stay out of parks on Sunday, because that's the only day the kids have no school activities and the only day that Dad is home from work.

TPR scheduled Fuji-Q on Sunday IIRC. Pretty sure it was intentional.

I'm begining to suspect this is a mistake. Possibly just in the naming or maybe in the whole thing although I've e-mailed Duane about it.

Animal Coaster is already the name of a ride there. Sort of a tumble bug type ride with animal cars. It was added in 2009 I think

^Isn'tt hat just a retheme of an even older ride as well?

I'm sure they had one of those with a dragon theme, and actually called Dragon Coaster, when I went there. Sort of near the base of the ferris wheel if I remember rightly.

^ yeah thats right - I recall seeing it on the sign/map as a coaster then staring at it for a while trying to convince myself that it was a coaster (which it clearly isn't).

Edit : dug out a (2008) pic taken from the ferris wheel;

I actually sent him an e-mail about Dragon Coaster. Until someone tells him what's gone on there, what would make him change it? He does actually have a life outside of updating the DB.

Yeah I've been e-mailing Duane the last few days. He's on it.
As RM said he has other things to do in his life :)
