Motion sickness Tips or Meds alternatives for coasters?

Hey everyone,

My girlfriend (25) started getting motion sick more easily this past year, which is something she didn’t really struggle with before. She’s used R-Calm and another similar product, and while they help quite a bit with the motion sickness, they also make her extremely tired after just 2-ish hours. That kind of ruins the rest of the day for her.

I was wondering if anyone here has recommendations for other meds that are less sedating, or any non-medication tricks you personally use to prevent motion sickness on coasters?
Anything from training, habits, timing, food, etc..

(And FYI, she gets motion sick on almost any ride these days. Be it family, thrill, launch, no launch, spinning..)

Thanks in advance!

I use stugeron - not for rides, but long journeys where I'm not driving, especially BOATS.

Avoid anything with promethazine in it, that's an excellent sedative.

I can also second Stugeron. It does make me drowsy enough that driving is probably not advisable in the immediate hours after taking it, but not so bad that I'm sleepy actually in the parks. Typically it makes me nod off on the train / plane and then I'm fine.

Could be worth trying acupressure bands, I think they can be used for seasickness but may help and shouldn't cause drowsiness. Other then that make sure you're well hydrated when riding coasters.

Thanks to both of you ! We will go get some this week-end and I'll report back the results!

I forgot those existed, good shout ! Thank you, we'll try that as well!

I would add that it's not perfect, but it does take the edge off. Keeping hydrated and well fed and pacing yourself on rides will also be important.
Second hydration - I make sure to drink at least a liter of water the night before and another morning of park going, especially in hot weather. Dehydration causes constriction of blood vessels and can definitely catch up with creating headaches and dizziness!
