So guys a simple question, are you buying into the whole motion gaming gimmick?

Personally, I hate it, it's just one of those things that we dont need. What was wrong with a regular controller? why do we need it at all?

Nope.

I'm not a bit one for gaming anyway. I enjoy playing on the Xbox, but I could live without it. I just think it's more money to spend on a short lived technology. I think this motion gaming stuff isn't quite ready yet. Give it another 5-10 years, maybe, but not right now.

It seems everyone loves it due to the success of the Wii but I don't know how successful the Move and Kinect will be.
Kinect is just an overpriced Eye-toy that lets you only play mini-games at the moment. Whereas the Move lets you play that plus full games such as Heavy Rain and SOCOM.
I probably will get the move in time although I'm not bothered about getting it when it comes out as I want to allow more games for it to be released and let the price drop a bit more as well.
It's just the way gaming is trying to evolve past the conventional controller. It does seem like everyone's copying the Wii, but if you can take something everyone enjoys and improve it then why not?

There's only one game I want that has motion controls. They are optional however so I won't get them. Now if you'll excuse me, Imma go fap to the Child of Eden trailer and Tetsuya Mizuguchi, again.

I'll probably get Move eventually, but certainly not straight away. It's cheap enough that I'm not totally turned off by it, but, I'll need to see a LOT more games that use it WELL.

Motion gaming is awful, it really is. I think the Kinect is going to bomb. It's FAR too over-priced for what it is, and I REALLY doubt many of them will sell at the price point they have. The Wii appeals to moronic baby-producers because it's cheap, but, to actually buy a new 360 AND Kinect will be at least twice as much, I hardly doubt that'll bring in many new customers. As for Move, I do think that will sell better to people who already own the console, but, I doubt it'll sell many new units.

It's all just POINTLESS. What IS the point of playing through Heavy Rain just so I can sit their holding a dildo instead of a controller? I wasn't sitting there thinking "well, I could figure this out a lot quicker if I was waving my arms around". It's ridiculous. The Kinect's even more pointless mind. But, gotta hand it to Microsoft, I know at least one person that wants to buy it just so they can sit on their fat arse and go "Xbox on" without moving, so well done for selling it to the lazy **** market.

I'm going to pick up a Move controller (already have the Playstation Eye) for the kids for "Eyepet". They struggle using the card that it comes with (so do I, it's a bit naff) and the Move controller will make it much easier for them.

Then I'm sure there are a few other decent games, the Sports game looks great, especially the sword fighting. Will pick them up when they're cheap though.

It is all "knee jerk" reaction to the Wii's popularity. Neither Sony or Microsoft seem to understand that while motion controls are selling Wii's, the only games that really selling are those with Italian Plumbers in them. The motion controls have nothing to do with the popularity of games, and nobody is going to be buying into 360/PS3 motion gaming as an "upgrade for their Wii". Waving arms about is soooooo 2007 ;)

I think Yahtzee hit the nail on the head in one of his reviews. Motion gaming will never work properly unless you get some sort of reaction so that it feels immersive. The problem with motion gaming at the moment for me, is that it just feels like an alternative control method. In Mario Kart, I prefer to use the nunchuck setup rather than the wheel. The only time the game uses motion sensing is when doing a trick off a ramp and essentially this function could easily be replaced by another button if the Wii had one.

I recently borrowed Mario Galaxy off a friend and a lot of the game seems to have elements designed for the Wii motion just because it's there. The game could easily have been produced for a conventional controller. Also, a lot of the places where they have put in motion controls feel really unintuitive and weird (as does most of the normal things too - anybody who has tried swimming in Mario Galaxy will understand)

So, motion controls could work, but they need a lot more developement before they feel "right."

The only motion controls that I enjoy using is the steering wheel that I use for my PC F1 game. But you really can't get a steering wheel much wrong.

I can revisit this now :)

Totally agree with this, but some of the Sony stuff really works actually. Sword Fighting with Move is superb and absolutely spot on. Likewise Archery. So Sony have it right with most of their sports pack (disc golf is okay, but not perfect. Volley Ball like Wii Sports Tennis with bells. Table Tennis not better than Sports Resorts and Bocce about the same as Sports Resorts 10 pin) but only the two really feel enhanced over Nintendo.

It shows a lot of potential though. Hopefully both Move and Kinect will work on this trend of "true" immersion. The Wii only plays at it, the 360 and PS3 can do it properly, but they need to not just tack the stuff onto a traditional game.

I should be getting the Killzone 3 Beta today or tomorrow - It'll be interesting to see how well that works. Like Resident Evil 4 on the Wii (the only game other than Warioware on the Wii I could see a real decent game with a great use of the controls)? Yes please!

Still really intrigued by Kinect... Just how will it work???

At the end of the day, motion gaming is not ever going to be accepted by people who consider themselves "pure" gamers. There will always be anal people who don't think it's true gaming.

The way I see it, motion gaming is a party thing. The Wii is a fantastic console to use when there's a group of people. But when I'm playing it alone I'll plug in a gamecube controller for ease of use.

I think motion gaming is at it's best with kids or drunk adults...

Resident Evil 4 for the Wii absolutely smashes that theory though. If a game is done well, then the motion controls can make a "pure", "hardcore" game sublime, even compared to mouse and keyboard.

I don't know about Resi 5 with Move though, but the game had mixed reviews as was.

Generally I do agree, but I think most developers have got lost in "party games" and "tack on controls" and missed the real opportunity. Hopefully we'll see that corrected over the coming months?
