Ah, the age old question. For our American cousins, Marmite is (as Wikipedia puts it) a sticky, dark brown paste with a distinctive, powerful flavour, which is extremely salty. Just so you know what us English lot are on about ;)

I love Marmite, especially spread on warm buttery toast...

Omg Marmite <3 BUT I only like it really REALLY thinly spread. It's such an overwhelming flavour, I don't understand how people drown their toast in it </3

Hate it.

However I loved the limited edition marmite flavoured crisps Walkers did once.

Go figure.

Middle ground (always one, isn't there...)
I like it, but wouldn't go out of my way to eat it - it's not one of those strong tasting foods that everyone else hates that I rave about, a la liquorice allsorts and other examples that escape me at the moment.

This.

If you get the balance of butter and Marmite correct, its amazing.

Marmite <3

I'm in the middle. I don't love it but I don't hate it. I will eat it if I'm in the mood for some Marmite on toast but I don't want it all the time - which is strange considering I used to have it all the time when I was younger.

Had Marmite, but not as easily available here, so Vegemite is the main one.
Love it, and it has a sharper flavour than Marmite if thats possible!

I've tried Vegemite before, but really didn't like it for some reason.

My Marmite eating career begun with the exact same opinion. However, it would appear that I've been (subconsciously) gradually piling more and more on to the point that it now takes several HUGE knifefuls before I'm totally happy with my toast to Marmite ratio.

Really really buttery toast with a massive lump of marmite on it is the best. <3
This.

Nonsense. Vegemite is so mild, you have to use half a jar just to taste it. Its ok in an emergency, but I wouldn't choose it over Marmite.

On a similar note, own-brand yeast extract just won't do either. It's alright for "other culinary uses" (gravy, stews etc) but is no good at all on toast. Eugh!

^yeah I think marmite has a stronger flavour as well. Had both vegemite and marmite, it's crazy how obsessed many australians I've met (exchange students) are about vegemite. I think both marmite and vegemite are ok (slightly prefer vegemite though), if someone offers me some I would use it as a spread, now and then, but I don't really like it well enough that I would buy it myself, if that makes sense.

Love. Love. LOVE it!

Still desperately want to try Marmite XO, the extra matured version that I keep seeing in shops.

I don't mind Marmite, really depends on the mood I'm in. I wouldn't spread a big amount on the bread as that would be very overpowering for my tastebuds!

I really should like it, and want to, but It just makes me gag. It's vile.

I tried some again yesterday for the first time in ages and had to spit it back out.
