Me and my dad went to Lightwater for the 20th birthday of the Ultimate yesterday. Even though we were a day early for any celebrations, it was still a fun day. It was raining heavily in the morning which I think put most people off going so the park was dead. When we arrived at the park the first thing we headed to was Eagles Claw. That was very fun and intense even though it didn't spin as much as I thought it would. My dad sat out of it. Next, we headed for Twister but that was still testing so went to the skate karts. These were't as good as I thought they were going to be. My dad manged to fall off them.
We then headed to Raptor Attack. At first I thought this was still shut as there was a steel gate over the entrance. After a bit though the ride op did open the gate but only let a few through. I then realised only a few could go through the main queue at a time. The queue for this was probably the best themeing in the park. The ride was actually pretty decent even though the on-ride themeing was rubbish. My dad was holding his glasses on for the whole ride so he could try and see the themeing but all the effort was for a few flashing dinosaurs. After Raptor Attack, I headed for the really out of place Whirlwind while my dad went for a cup of tea in the adjacent cafe. Whirlwind was really fun even though it threw my legs eveywhere possible. It managed to tire out my leg muscles because while my legs were getting thrown about, they were trying to stay in one place. After that, I went to some toilets which seemed to be housed in an old church.
When my dad had finished his tea, I went on the Ultimate. I was expecting bad for this, But the roughness after the second drop just blew my away and heavily bruised my knee and side. At first it was just very rattly and I didn't think it was as bad as everyone was saying but then came the second drop and it didn't stop hurting until the final corner which surprisingly smooth compared to the rest of the coaster. After the Ultimate, I noticed Twister was working so I headed over to that. Due the rain, they were only allowing 2 people in a car so the queue moved very . Once I got on it, it was just an average spinning wild mouse that was actually very fun. After that, we went for food in the Conservatory cafe. The food was just average, overpriced burgers. When walking over to the next ride, I stepped right in the middle of a deep puddle in non-waterproof shoes
. When we made it onto the Rapids which were our next ride, the lift hill got stuck so we were stuck on them while they got maintenence out. Once we got going, it turned out the rapids were rubbish and we didn't get wet on them at all.
We were going to go on the Ladybird now but that was shut so while my dad went to take advantage of the free cake with every tea or coffee offer you can find on LWV's website, I went into Skeleton Cove.
I origianaly went in to go on the black pearl but got distracted by Powder Kegs. Powder kegs was actually pretty fun even if it was a bit slower than I first expected. Next, I went to get on Black pearl but as I got on and the restriants were lowered, the ride op couldn't get it to work so I had to get off. Instead I collected my dad from the cafe and went on Falls of terror. Me and my dad went in the queue for the fastest slide which was actually very fun. After that I noticed that Black pearl was going again so I headed back to that. That was very forceful and very fun even though it went over very slowly and I only had a lapbar.
We then headed over to the caterpillar coaster. On the way though, my dad needed the loo so I had to wait for him to go. This average big apple coaster is tucked away quite a walk away from the rest of the park. That made sure there was no-one else on it. After that, We went over to Trauma tower which was probably the tamest non-kiddie drop tower I've been on. After that because I got around the park alot quicker than expected, I went on the Chairswing and the dodgems. Both were average clones of that ride type. Around this time the rain dried up and it became a really nice day. Next I re-rode Eagles claw after wading through the flooded queueline. For a bit I was the only one in the queue so I thought I'd be the only one on it dexcept other people did turn up. Just before I was about to get on someone as sick all over the ride as he got off. The ride op had to clean the ride then which held me up a bit. Once I got on, it was as good as ever.
Afterwards, we headed to the ferris wheel to get some general park photos but not many of them came out well. When we got off, we headed to the minitature railway for it to take us to the station next to the Ultimate. I found the railway gave an unique persceptive of the park so I got some photos from the railway. When we got off we headed straight back to the Ultimate for a re-ride. I found that if you spread your legs as much as possible, it doesn't hurt as much. We then headed down to the normal pirate ship but on the way I noticed The Ladybird coaster was going. That was alot better than expected. I then went on the normal pirate shipwhich was a lot worse than expected. I then re-rode Black pearl which was as good as earlier. I then thought the enterprise which had been shut for the whole day had opened. I headed over but it was still shut. I headed back up to Whirlwind for it to be my final ride of the day. This was better than it was in the morning. I then walked back to the entrance, my dad needed to the loo again so while he went, I took some photos of the frankly brilliant entrance building. My dad came out of the loo and we left.
My ride count of the day:
