Lobbying FOR a theme park

We all know that as enthusiasts our opinions are the most valid when it comes to theme parks ( yes, that's sarcasm).

When it comes to theme parks, it tends to be the local residents that have the biggest say and that tends to be objection to new attractions and expansion.

London Mayor Boris Johnson is today urging people to lobby JK Rowling for a Harry Potter here in the UK.

How much power do you think the average joe has when it comes to theme park creation and expansion? And do you think Boris' call to arms is worthless?

It's worthless as the NIMBYs as a minority seem to have a much greater say than the majority.

I think it's a good cause actually and there is a case for it, but we've tied ourselves up hideously with red tape and rules that make it impossible for these things to just happen :(

^Which is something that Boris Johnson should be aware of, instead of this ridiculous "I want" stance he's taking. What does he expect to happen? JK Rowling to open the park herself?

Tool.

I was working under the assumption that seeing a Boris doesn't know which way around to wear his pants, he was unlikely to know much about things like planning regulations, etc... :D

I think the whole stupidity of the man is reflected in that he doesn't even realise IoA's ISN'T a theme park, it's an area.

That's hardly a fair point. Neither do 90% of the population since every article, newspaper, interview and television report has stated over and over again that this is a "Harry Potter theme park".

Also, he's the one currently granting permission for all these massive skyscrapers being built in London at the moment. His job role kinda gives him the ability to sign permits!

It's not a matter of the red tape and permits here, because the governing body of the city is the one expressing an interest!

No, for once this attraction wont get built because the park managers wont want to do it =)
