Lincoln Park Comet Collapses...again

I wonder if the local authorities will do anything with the structure or just let it rot decay and collapse further.

I always find this stuff kind of interesting, for some reason.

Isn't there something intriguing about derelict rides?

^Yes. It makes you want to go back in time and ride them.

I would've thought that the city would've demo'd it, but apparently nobody cares. They're going to have to clean it up eventually.

Damn, what's the point of still having this thing up if it keeps collapsing? I understand it could hold some nostaligic value for the people who live there, but it doesn't look too pretty.

Because its been left to rot, it costs money for someone to come and pull it down. Its free to let it rot and collapse ;)

^Exactly.

We had a few legendary coasters around me sit and rot for 25 years before the city deemed them worthy of complete destruction.

There must be huge sums of money being saved by letting a ride decay for years, then bringing out the dozers and shovels and dump trucks instead of knocking down the ride using the same equipment...

This is an interesting find!
Rollerdude: It's really a question of if there is any reason to take it down and who's going to pay for it. If nobody is using the land and it's not a death trap, no one is going to pay to tear it down.

That's so sad it's just going to sit there and rot for who knows how long. Anyone know why it got abandoned? Did the park go out of business?
