On Sunday, myself, Tomatron, caffeine_demom, MouseAT, nadroJ, Stone Cold, Ploddish and Peter visited Landmark Forest park in Carrbridge, central Scotland (about 2.5 hrs drive north of Edinburgh).
It's a bit like Greenwood Forest Park in North Wales, with "eco" attractions aimed at children.
Quaint reception building greeted us. It has a brown fountain.
Here's a close up of the "browntain"
LOL!
As we had a two hour drive to another park in the afternoon, we skipped Sawing Our Own Log, but I can safely say when I got to the Travelodge that evening, I successfully cut several logs.
There's only one cred here. It's a Pinfari (as are ALL of the coasters in Scotland), similar if not exactly the same as Mini Mighty Mega at Adventure Island.
With a +1 on safely tucked in our sporrans, we tried out of some the other attractions.
Ploddish and I sat out of the Ropeworx assault course thing, but the rest attempted it like the Bravehearts they are. Most parks would unscrupulously charge for this type of attraction. At Landmark Forest, it's FREE!
Here's a crotch shot of Stone Cold. Sorry girls and gays, he wasn't wearing a kilt.
Stone Cold and caffeine_demon were evidently scared, but they obviously had their porridge oats for breakfast and successfully finished the course.
With their harnesses still attached, they took on the 50 ft high Sky Dive.
Screeching with self-confidence like a set of badly played bagpipes, we moved on to the Water Coaster (that's a water slide to you and me).
Stone Cold and Ploddish did a fat boat. The ride op (all the staff here were exceptionally friendly btw) told them to hold the sides of the boat up to make it go faster.
They flew down faster than a malt whiskey chaser!
After an adrenaline filled 45 mins, we decided to calm things down a little by doing the Treetop Trail. It's a woodland walk along an 1 kilometer (about 2/3 mile) long platform.
Little information boards were dotted around to inform us of interesting (but not "iantresting ) facts.
It went on...
...and on...
...and on.
Fire beaters were on hand to put out any illegal cigarettes. Smoking is only allowed in designated spaces.
So we continued to walk 500 miles...
...and then 500 more. Eventually we found the interesting feeding area.
Now we were calmer than the surface of a loch, we headed to the other side of the park to find The Fire Tower. The Fire Tower is a large wooden observation tower used to spot fires.
We climbed the 108 steps, which were broken up in flights of 10 steps (apart from the top few) to the very top. Stairs are a collection of steps.
There were some gorgeous views to be had.
Realising that being on top of wooden tower during a fire isn't sensible, so we clambered back down to look at the final attraction of the day.
Bamboozeleum is a "discovery centre" with illusions and ****.
This machine can change your appearance to "older", "younger", "female" or "male".
Stone Cold put his on the "what would I look like nowadays if I grew up in Glasgow" setting.
Silly double camera things.
Thermal imagining camera. I look brilliant in these.
We did a group photos. Try to work out who's who. Jordan spotted that her "lady bits" were hot.
Shadow wall thing.
Electric ball thing.
A big bunch of arses.
Just the one arse
The best attraction was outside the Bamboozleum. A chair optical illusion.
LOL!
Landmark Forest Park is the least grotty park in Scotland. It's not the most thrilling but it's probably the most fun due to the different attractions. Compared to M&Ds and Condonas which we also visited (and I CBA to write reports on them, but I'll do guides), Landmark has more of an adventure feel to it. It wasn't about ticking boxes and then **** off home, it was about having fun. If you ever find yourself in the highlands of Scotland, it's well worth a visit. Thanks for reading. Aye!
