Kumdori Land (Daejeon, Korea) ; open or not?

Anyone know if this place is still operating?

RCDB does not appear to think it is closed, but the website it links to is dead (or rather redirects somewhere else (in the way that dead links sometimes do) that I can't read) and I can find no information online that makes any sense one way or another....

This site (from June last year) is the one that concerned me, but no real information just some pics; http://www.behance.net/gallery/Good-Bye ... nd/4157805

(I might well be off to Korea very soon, so I have somewhat of a vested interest! :) )

I don't know man. Those Korean parks are tough. I went to Sorak Plazaland about a week before it vanished, Darren Mullens(SP?) went two weeks after I was there, and all the dry rides were gone. I had issues with Children's Grand Park, too, finding the Crazy Mouse very SBNO on that trip.

Good luck...

A good question and the only answer I can give is I don't think it's open at the moment but it might be.

I believe the park is currently undergoing some kind of land/ownership dispute and there is an ongoing investigation.

If you translate any of these with google translate you will see what i mean

Afraid due to my lack of any Korean language skills that's all I can say. :S

When did you go? I did a quick check in late 2008 and it was up and running - new paint job etc. It had been just sitting there for at least 5 years prior to that.

On topic, no idea about Kumdori Land. It would be a shame if it were to go. There's no other park of any real significance in the area (just a zoo with a few rides) and the Vekoma looper - whatever they're calling it this month - is actually excellent.

I do know that Childrens Grand Park is currently shut for redevelopment - reopening in March - and ME World in Busan has bit the dust recently too it seems.

So Korea ; great at announcing planned super new huge (and never to appear) parks, whilst shutting down crummy older ones! ;-)

( the only ride out of all of these that looked interesting was that varied-named Vekoma at Kumdori though :( )

2004. I found it looking fairly rusty, with disassembled cars valleyed all over the track and the car bodies sitting on the ride platform.

^ Seems about right. I probably went to the park around 20 times from 2002-2009 (not for the coasters, but the park as a whole was a nice place to hang out for an afternoon), and never thought the mouse would open, so it was a nice surprise to see it all done up and open.

^^Me World was a fairly new park, and had a decent coaster and some excellent flat rides. I was there on a weekend with great weather and it was dead, despite being in Korea's second biggest city.

Apart from Lotte World and Everland, I've never seen a park in Korea get even remotely busy. It's weird really.

So once we had worked out that the amusement park I was trying to ask whether was open was neither Lotte World nor Everland, the nice lady at the KTO did a bit of searching and came up with "sorry; out of business"

So no stopoff at Daejon on the way down South tomorrow for me then.

There's a smaller park in Daejeon (used to be called zoo land), with a Maurer spinner, a kiddy cred (discovered by me - yay), an excellent Intamin drop tower (with stand up and floorless sides) and a safari ride where you can torment bears through an open window if you're interested?

There was some bear-tormenting on the Safari ride at Everland too ; thoroughly horrible it was...

CBA with O-World (even if there were a chance of a plaque on the kiddy-ride denoting your discovery).
