I felt like a weekend away, but don’t currently have a Chinese tourist visa, so the usual quick hop to some city I haven’t tried was off the table. My first thought was Taipei since it’s been years since I’ve been and I have friends there, but when I was looking at flights, the prices were a bit ridiculous considering how close it is and what you can usually get them for. For the same price as a budget airline flight to Taipei, I could get a “real” airline to Seoul, which is much further, with perfect flight times for what I needed.
This was purely a weekend to catch up with old friends, so I just stayed around the area I used to live and went out on the Friday and Saturday nights.
On Saturday afternoon, I headed across to Children’s Grand Park since there’s a new coaster since last time I was there.
The zoo section had changed quite a bit.
The amusement park area was very different as well.
The +1:
The wild mouse thing had been sitting SBNO for almost the entire 6 years I lived in Seoul, but suddenly opened about a month before I left, so I had that cred already.
The drop tower and log flume were new, but I didn’t bother.
They’ve kept parts of the trains for their two removed coasters. The blue one was the first coaster in South Korea. The other one was removed a few years ago.
That was it.
I had time to kill on Sunday afternoon between checking out of the hotel and heading to the airport, so headed to the Jamsil area to check out the new Lotte Tower/Mall which is across the street from the old Lotte World complex. I only had a couple of hours, so wasn’t about to try and attempt the park on a Sunday afternoon.
The tower was quite ridiculous.
I went inside the mall since you used to be able to go to a food court area which overlooked the inside section of the park, but that’s not possible now. That area has now become part of the park itself by the looks of it.
Instead, I just walked around the lake which has the outdoor area sitting in the middle of it.
It had been raining, and nothing outside was running. They started testing stuff just as I was leaving though.
This view has changed massively since I used to live here.
Done. Thanks for reading this epic report.
