Hey all!
So I just came back from King's Dominion literally 8 minutes ago and I have new reports of new coasters!
Our class took a trip for our "graduation", you could say...so my friends and I made sure to plan carefully and pretty much spring to the next coaster. I'm delighted to say the plan worked well
Just in case you missed it, here's a rundown of what I think of the park. The bold print is my revision.
The Park
Now on to the exciting part...the rides
The (Big) Rides
Volcano, The Blast Coaster After riding Joker's Jinx at Six Flags America, I expected a somewhat slow launch. Seeing as JJ had a 60 MPH launch that felt like 40, I was anticipating the same thing for Volcano. And I was right. The launch didn't seem significantly slower, but it did NOT feel like 73 MPH. Maybe when you entered the vertical section you reached max speed (I definitely felt acceleration there), but yeah. Even if the initial launch was 70 MPH, it felt like 63. Overall, a fun ride that's worth a 20 minute wait, but pretty much worth nothing after that. This one ranked as my favorite coaster today
Intimidator 305
After chickening out when my friends hopped on, I went to Flight of Fear. Then, while in the middle of the obnoxiously long line, I suddenly had a change of heart. "<censored> Flight of Fear, let's do Intimidator!" After exiting FoF I immediately made a beeline for I305. Interesting restraints; it was a good idea to make the shoulder restraints padded
While being somewhat freaked out by the crazy fast cable lift, I found the ~7 second drop wasn't bad. In fact, I was silent on the way down. On the turn after the drop, I think I blacked out, but IDK. All I know is that I felt my eyes closing and I couldn't really open them until we hit the hill
But the rest of the ride was very smooth...and awesome
I'm glad I rode it.
BTW, did anyone else come off the ride with a sore hip? I think I might have pressed the restraint down while I was coasting the airtime hills or something, but it was pretty painful.
Flight of Fear
Nothing much to say here. When you enter, you see this giant UFO and you walk into it as part of the line, which we all thought was cool. However, that kinda seemed pointless when you really got to the loading area. The theming was nice, but it just didn't match the ride. Nowhere in FoF (the actual ride, not the queue line) was there any hint of aliens or space invaders, which I thought kinda killed all the scenery. As for the ride itself, the train rolls into the station empty, which I thought was nice. The launch: slow. Seems fast, but really not. Not an exciting ride. Not a very comfortable ride if you're riding by yourself either. It's also extremely noisy. However, it could make a good warm-up.
Rebel Yell
That first drop seemed insanely steep. Not a fan of airtime, I think it's safe to assume I didn't enjoy it. And if you thought so, then you're right. Good speed, though.
Grizzly
Hmm, after riding I305, pretty much everything seemed slow
But it was nice and relaxing. Not much airtime...in fact, the hills were pretty nice. Good warm-up or relaxer. When we first got there, there were 3 other people in the station. An hour later, every line was filled. It's not worth a 25+ minute wait, IMO.
Ghoster Coaster
I still can't believe we went on that  Not much to say...if you have absolutely nothing else to do then that's a good use of ~2 minutes
I like the trains and their alternating colors though.
Shenandoah Lumber Company
In case you didn't know, this is their log flume. How is this rated a 4 again? (A 4 is the second-most intense rating there, BTW.) It's a fun little log flume and we found it entertaining to say "bump" every time a side of the log bumped against the track thingy
Of course, it's no fun to have a random seating arrangement, is it? The three of us chose a 'tactical seating method' so we could achieve the biggest splash upon contact with the water at the bottom of the final hill. It worked well, the person in the front got absolutely soaked, I got somewhat soaked (I was in the middle), and the person in the back barely got soaked. 'Twas a fun flume!
Drop Tower
I usually don't ride Drop Towers. But I made an exception here. Now THAT was some scary stuff: Volcano looked like a mound of dirt to me from the top  Good speed, though. It was truly terrifying
Overall, I had another good time, but the rides here just aren't worth lines over 40 minutes....which was the Volcano, Dominator, and Intimidator lines >.<
Nice park. I look forward to coming back soon
And this is completely unrelated but I think I'll have a review of like 5 different amusment parks in CA by the end of the summer!

Once you enter, you can see Dominator and the top of Intimidator's lift hill looming over the entrance. [strike]I'll admit, it was pretty exciting I have no idea where you get maps, but somehow we managed to find one randomly[/strike] The layout is nice; it's pretty easy to navigate your way around and [strike]not[/strike] get lost. It's [strike]pretty[/strike] somewhat clean, too, and the carnival games/staff make the walk [strike]a lot[/strike] more interesting.
