Kentucky Kingdom Twisted Twins RMC Conversion

According to Screamscape and some posts I saw on another site (not sure if I can link there or not) it looks like for the first time in years there's some activity going on around Twisted Twins. Ed Hart said that the plan was to "upgrade Twisted Twins to a 'much superior ride' due to open in 2016," according to Wikipedia's page on the coaster.

One thing worth noting is that while RMC isn't the cheapest choice and Ed Hart isn't made of money, this could be their first conversion on a steel truss-supported coaster, which might make things a bit easier on them. Considering this and the budget of the project, could we maybe see a less dramatic conversion than the ones we've seen in the past? This also means it isn't a hybrid coaster anymore.

When I drove past it back in May it looked pretty sorry but that layout has a lot of potential. I could see one side jumping off the lift chain, dipping around the turn, and coming back over a small airtime hill into the drop while the other one inverts like Medusa Steel Coaster. And I even thought of the perfect name: Iron Maidens!

(Hope I started this topic okay...)

So a mix of Twisted Collosus, Medusa, and the unfulfilled plans of Lake Monster?

What's not to like? This sounds awesome!

Can't help thinking that KK would be more likely to just get a "refresh" of the existing (i.e wood) layout and maybe some new trains rather than any wholesale redesign (ala the Iron Horse re-builds).

I believe in that statement they made outlining their three projects for 2016, they specifically said an I-box conversion for a non-Six Flags park, and were looking for someone to work in Kentucky.

So it looks like we're starting to see some carnage! Track's coming up!
