I was extremely lucky enough to be invited to join Stone Cold, Will and Lain on a 3 day trip to Italy. I took plently of photos, rubbish POVs and hopefully a video will make an appearance too.

Saturday 19th September 2009

Will and I stayed at Lain's house the night before. Richard picked us up from his at 3:30 in the morning, joy. We got to Stansted airport in quite good time, we arrived around 4:something. We went through security which was amusing because we were tired and a silly answer to a serious question resulted in security man bursting out into hysterics. After that fun game we searched for food. Richard, Lain and I grabbed a Boots meal deal but Will wanted something from the pub restaurant, it was busy. Oh well, after eating breakfast we made our way to the boarding gate. It was then time to board our Ryanair flight, I got a seat next to the window :D This was cool because we flew over the Alps which just looked amazing.

We then landed at Venice-Treviso.

After getting through security Richard had to sort out the hire car. This took a very long time, we got a little bored.

8927_266688790359_529160359_8846976_3195197_n.jpg

8927_266688800359_529160359_8846978_5224103_n.jpg

8927_266688820359_529160359_8846979_2288374_n.jpg

Well, it all got sorted and we made our way to the car. We saw loads of these lizard type creatures on this fence, I want one.

8927_266688825359_529160359_8846980_2219081_n.jpg

So we were in Italy and we had a car. We started our new epic car journey to our first destination. I'm not too sure what the area was called but it had a beach with kids attractions and rollercoasters. We arrived.

8927_266688830359_529160359_8846981_5170109_n.jpg

We were happy tired

8927_266688835359_529160359_8846982_1020915_n.jpg

Then we found out that the rides were all closed

8927_266688845359_529160359_8846983_1868426_n.jpg

8927_266688850359_529160359_8846984_6088946_n.jpg

Bad times. Oh well, off we went to the next location. This was to be a very long journey (made longer by the sat nav getting confused in the seaside area). On our journey we got hungry, we spotted a McDonalds so we opted to go there.

8927_266688855359_529160359_8846985_7271028_n.jpg

It was ok, the burger was meh, the fries were too salty and the McFlurrys?

8927_266688860359_529160359_8846986_1246241_n.jpg

8927_266688870359_529160359_8846987_4632218_n.jpg

They were epic, big thumbs up from me. So, our journey continues. We were optimistic about the rest of the day and full of sugar energy. Which is why we probably found this excellent...

8927_266688875359_529160359_8846988_1677760_n.jpg

We then finally got to our first hotel of the trip. Not sure of the name but it was an absolute excellent choice by Richard. Good views, large rooms and comfy beds. Will approves

8927_266688880359_529160359_8846989_1119114_n.jpg

So off we went to the first theme park of the trip. Fiabilandia.

8927_266688905359_529160359_8846994_5863964_n.jpg

It was 22 euros to get in, annoying. We didn't really know what to expect from this park. The first coaster we spotted was a spinning mouse thing, bit different to the other ones I've ridden. It was behind some trees though and we weren't sure how to get to it. Richard uses a map...

8927_266688910359_529160359_8846995_8216899_n.jpg

Which led us to this..

8927_266688915359_529160359_8846996_1813345_n.jpg

I was quite impressed by this coaster, it felt smooth and it had some good spinny moments.

8927_266688920359_529160359_8846997_6150209_n.jpg

I don't think the others agree with my opinion though. Anyways, next to it was a kiddy coaster, this was the entrance...

8927_266688925359_529160359_8846998_4666885_n.jpg

It was bizarre. It was pleasant, well themed and very different to what I've seen before.

8927_266689025359_529160359_8847016_7096745_n.jpg

See, look at the amusement on Lain, Will and Richard's faces...

8927_266688935359_529160359_8847000_2541858_n.jpg

Approval, Lain gives it...

8927_266689035359_529160359_8847018_1932204_n.jpg

We then came across a western themed area.

8927_266689050359_529160359_8847021_5578852_n.jpg

It had a rollercoaster in it.

8927_266689060359_529160359_8847023_5684181_n.jpg

It was very unusual, although the inside section had awesome lights, apart from that it wasn't great and didn't do a lot.

8927_266689065359_529160359_8847024_8130133_n.jpg

8927_266689075359_529160359_8847025_7341634_n.jpg

Well that's all the credits that the park has. The original plan was to credit hunt then leave but from the cost of entry we decided to stay a bit longer and explore other attractions. We continued around the lake and found some slides.

8927_266689125359_529160359_8847031_5601306_n.jpg

Richard and Lain decided to have a go.

8927_266689100359_529160359_8847028_418298_n.jpg

8927_266689110359_529160359_8847029_7579766_n.jpg

The mats didn't seem to slide very well so they didn't go very far, Richard wanted the full amusement of the attraction so pushed himself until he reached the wall, much to everyone's amusement. There was then a random walk through thing with cool bridges. It didn't seem to make much sense but there was a platform that looked out to the lake. Which is when we spotted a sealion in the water and a Pelican on the side. How unusual.

8927_266689140359_529160359_8847033_6585830_n.jpg

8927_266689145359_529160359_8847034_7918886_n.jpg

Oh and a boat for no apparent reason

8927_266689150359_529160359_8847035_5091039_n.jpg

Then it was bridges of fun time.

8927_266689160359_529160359_8847037_8261000_n.jpg

8927_266689180359_529160359_8847041_3183219_n.jpg

Then there was a random tunnel of mist

8927_266689190359_529160359_8847042_2713260_n.jpg

The last ride we went on was a little boat ride in an Asia themed area. It looked like a lot of the effects didn't work, oh well.

8927_266689275359_529160359_8847053_55298_n.jpg

We then left the park to head for our next location which had no credits. We drove to San Marino which was absolutely beautiful. Large hills (I don't know if they class as Mountains), great architecture and windy roads which challenged our rental car to its limits :p

8927_266689300359_529160359_8847057_2533614_n.jpg

We wanted to go here...

8927_266689390359_529160359_8847069_3731791_n.jpg

so we did. The views were amazing. It had a nice little atmosphere too.

8927_266689450359_529160359_8847080_2870721_n.jpg

When we got to the building we were after we watched a newly married couple having their wedding photos with the following as a background...

8927_266689470359_529160359_8847083_6091003_n.jpg

We had a lovely meal at a small restaurant that had a similar view. It was really nice view and the staff were very kind and welcoming (they spoke excellent English). We then made our way back to the car after picking up some drinks for the evening.

8927_266689485359_529160359_8847086_5147040_n.jpg

We then spent the evening at the hotel. Richard, Lain and Will had alcohol (I opted for soft drinks). Will got very very drunk and spent some time sitting in a wardrobe much to our amusement.

8927_266688775359_529160359_8846974_4574601_n.jpg

It was an excellent first day (despite the failed credits at the beach). I'm so glad I got to see San Marino, such an amazing place, photos just don't do it justice. Thanks for reading, day two coming soon....

I was soooooo annoyed I couldn't come to this trip! It looks amazing, Italy looks beautiful and obviously, credits WANT!

I assume Will is talking to me on the phone in the wardrobe, odd.....XD

Great report so far Peep, looking forward to seeing the other parks. I'm guessing Mirabilandia is next as its quite close to Fiabilandia.

Can't wait until I get to Italy as it does look amazing.

Awsome, cant wait for more!

From that pic, that looks like a clone of the Rockin Roller at Skegness Pleasure Beach!Score!

Hope you lot didn't get too cosy on your romantic weekend

Why thank you Mr Benin :p

Thanks for the comments so far. Hang on, Romantic weekend? I think not.

Anyway, on to the next part :D

Sunday 20th September

We woke up in our lovely hotel and headed down to the restaurant for some breakfast. It was a simple buffet with bread, cereals and croissants on offer, you know, the usual. Will was happy to be in Italy and having food but was also heavily tired and drunk from the previous evening.

8927_267543360359_529160359_8860601_1306009_n.jpg

Oh well, we checked out of the hotel and began our car journey to Mirabilandia, good times were ahead.

8927_267543375359_529160359_8860602_6397218_n.jpg

We could spot some of the attractions from the motorway, time to start getting excited.

8927_267543395359_529160359_8860605_3012932_n.jpg

We parked up and headed to the entrance. Katun does a surprisingly good job at hiding in this photo.

8927_267543405359_529160359_8860607_322663_n.jpg

We had got to the park about 15 mins before opening so we had to wait with lots of Italians for the gate to open, it felt more like 30 mins, especially in the heat.

8927_267543410359_529160359_8860608_2766514_n.jpg

8927_267543415359_529160359_8860609_4669663_n.jpg

The gates opened and we managed to be some of the first peeps in the park. We decided to start our day with some B&M goodness. On our way we noticed that the park has some excellent theming.

8927_267543430359_529160359_8860610_6811694_n.jpg

8927_267543435359_529160359_8860611_7761456_n.jpg

It was a long way to Katun but we seemed to be ahead of everyone else :D We could spot Katun which just got us really excited.

8927_267543470359_529160359_8860615_6154078_n.jpg

We walked past Pakal which didn't look very exciting.

8927_267543475359_529160359_8860616_8114161_n.jpg

We were nearly there, it was such a long walk to get here, will it be worth it?

8927_267543515359_529160359_8860621_1630318_n.jpg

The queueline was empty, good times...

8927_267543545359_529160359_8860625_1476670_n.jpg

8927_267543555359_529160359_8860627_7494855_n.jpg

Richard and Lain opted for front row and Will and I sat in back row. So what did I think of it? AMAZING! It is easily one of the best rollercoasters I've ridden. The inversions were great and the way you speed through the MCBR creating masses of air time is just superb. This had to be ridden again, so we walked out of the exit and back into the queue, but there was no queue so straight on to the ride it was :D Fantastic.

We decided to come back to Katun later. So next up was Pakal which had a small queue but due to some great ride ops it went down quickly.

8927_267543600359_529160359_8860634_3632134_n.jpg

8927_267543580359_529160359_8860630_5713034_n.jpg

8927_267543565359_529160359_8860628_1226923_n.jpg

It was ok, the corners weren't as bad as I was expecting but the drops were horrible, wasn't very smooth. It wasn't rough it just didn't seem to be made very well, like there were bumps in the track almost, hard to explain. Anyway there was no way we were going to re-ride.

On our way to the next ride we spotted this sign which made us laugh a lot, other people looked at us in an odd way :p

8927_267543620359_529160359_8860636_935005_n.jpg

So, our next ride was to be the powered coaster Explorer. It has the same layout as Flying Fish at Thorpe Park but it has trains which make it look like a Schwarzkopf, how random. Can you see the coaster in this pic?

8927_267543640359_529160359_8860640_8388413_n.jpg

I know I can't and I took the pic knowing that it was behind the foliage. It was quite hard to take pics of it, apart from the exit.

8927_267543675359_529160359_8860644_2873507_n.jpg

Lain clearly enjoyed it though...

8927_267543725359_529160359_8860650_3928068_n.jpg

8927_267543735359_529160359_8860652_4802124_n.jpg

Well, Explorer wasn't amazing, though I have to admit I'm getting a little bored by these now, been on the Chessington and Thorpe versions too many times. You want to ride it? Ok, here you go, have a crappy POV that I took...

Enjoy? Good.

The next thing we came across was a rapids ride. It looked awesome and well themed. Annoyingly I didn't take any pics of it but I think Richard got some, especially of the epic waterfalls. Unlike UK river rapids attractions this got us soaked. There was no way of going on and coming off dry and it was great fun, I think we also amused the Italians that rode with us.

We then came across another rollercoaster, Family adventure. I've been on the same type of coaster at West Midlands Safari Park. It's quite enjoyable but nothing special. I didn't get any pics of it but I filmed a really bad POV, have fun...

Fun wasn't it? Richard then spotted some form of spinny ride that Will didn't want to ride and I wasn't bothered about riding. So just Lain and Richard went on. While they were riding Will decided to lay down on a bench and take my bag and use it as a pillow. He got lots of odd looks lol.

8927_267543750359_529160359_8860654_4623685_n.jpg

I think Lain and Richard enjoyed the ride anyways. We were aware that the police themed stunt show was to begin shortly and so we went to that. Richard opted for a slushy drink...

8927_267543775359_529160359_8860658_6419582_n.jpg

The slushy looked good. The show was also quite good, would've been better if any of us understood Italian. The stunts were really good and it also had a monster truck in it so obviously that made it awesome.

The stunt show was actually located in a car themed area which also featured iSpeed and a log flume. What impressed us was the original theming here on the log flume, was really cool and we also didn't get wet (apart from Lain who sat at the front, ha).

8927_267543790359_529160359_8860660_2749894_n.jpg

8927_267543800359_529160359_8860662_1605997_n.jpg

Then it was time for iSpeed, the new launched coaster for 2009.

8927_267543825359_529160359_8860666_7868418_n.jpg

It was really good, nice launch, interesting inversions and some great pops of air time. The layout is weird but it is enjoyable.

8927_267543865359_529160359_8860672_2034279_n.jpg

8927_267543875359_529160359_8860674_2549453_n.jpg

It was then time for some food. We opted to eat at the restaurant 'Drive-in'. An American diner themed place. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good, especially for the price, oh wells.

8927_267543900359_529160359_8860677_651322_n.jpg

After some disappointing food we opted for the last kiddy credit at the park, Leprotto express.

8927_267543955359_529160359_8860687_2989250_n.jpg

It was ok, especially for a kids coaster. And yes, you lucky peeps can ride it via my bad POV :p

It was then back for some more iSpeed action.

8927_267543960359_529160359_8860688_5327112_n.jpg

8927_267543970359_529160359_8860690_2892503_n.jpg

Cattle pen queuelines are horrible but this one wasn't too bad. The throughput of this ride is really good, this actually seemed to be a re-occurring theme throughout the day too.

We then went to the very hidden Reset. It is a laser shooting dark ride themed to a post-apocalyptic New York. The theming was excellent as you can tell from the below photos.

8927_267543985359_529160359_8860692_6365124_n.jpg

8927_267544075359_529160359_8860702_2358328_n.jpg

I wasn't too keen on the laser system used, they were too small, along with the LEDs that you had to shoot. I'm too used to the UK ones which use a bigger laser and are just easier to use. However the theming throughout the attraction was just so good I didn't really care. Also and added bonus was that it was walk-on.

8927_267544085359_529160359_8860704_1931043_n.jpg

It was then time for lots of Katun re-rides.

8927_267544125359_529160359_8860710_3895872_n.jpg

We rode it a total of 6 times throughout the day.

8927_267544130359_529160359_8860711_3959142_n.jpg

The Mayan theming is just excellent, we wanted to take it home with us.

8927_267544135359_529160359_8860712_284575_n.jpg

Lain approves of Katun goodness

8927_267544145359_529160359_8860714_2494541_n.jpg

Will is similarly amused

Lain and I on Katun

We wanted to check out the merchandise in the main shop at the entrance. This is when the Will must wear every hat game began. I didn't take any pics of this fun game but hopefully Richard will bring these hilarious moments to the forum soon. After a while Will got frustrated and decided to sit on a cannon.

8927_267544170359_529160359_8860719_6322179_n.jpg

After some faffage times we opted for another go on iSpeed.

8927_267544205359_529160359_8860724_4880253_n.jpg

It was still a great ride, just not as good as Katun :p

We then headed to the exit as it was closing time :(
Richard wanted to be catapulted back into the park

Oh well, back to the car it was. We then had a couple hour drive to the next hotel in Verona. It was an Ibis hotel but it was quite nice and the staff at the front desk were really nice people. Here are some pics of the room...

8927_267544320359_529160359_8860736_7046098_n.jpg

On our way to the hotel we stopped off at a petrol station and I purchased these awesome biscuits, very nice.

8927_267544325359_529160359_8860737_5760555_n.jpg

We then went into Verona in search of food. Not really knowing anything about the area I was pleasantly shocked by the amazing area. I loved it, there was a Colosseum type building which was a music venue. There was a band playing and it was an open top building so we could hear them very clearly, they were awesome, have no idea who they were though.

We ended up eating at this really nice little restaurant which had this really cool waitress who put up with us :p The food was top notch and Lain had the largest beer I've ever seen, good times (these pics were taken on the phone)...

We then went back to the hotel. I got some sleep while the others had a little bit to drink in the other room.

Thanks again for reading, hope you're enjoying my report. The third and final day coming soon...

Nice TR! Mirabilandia looks like a really good park, looks like you had a great time there, definately one I want to visit in the near future.

I never heard of the Reset ride before I read this report either, it looks pretty awesome for a shooting ride!

Plus Katun just looks rediculously good would love to ride that. Hows it compare to say Montu? If any of you have ridden that before?

I thought it blew Montu out of the water, but then, Montu has always been my most disappointing coaster. Katun certainly kept the pace and forces right up until the final brake run, which is something Montu fails to do, as it dies after the immelman.

Brilliant trip report, Mirabilandia looks really nice with great theming and Katun looks amazing, would really like to ride it. iSpeed looks fantastic aswell.

Wow, nice report, Italy is always somewhere I've wanted to go, not so much for the coasters but for the atmosphere and culture in general. Mirabilandia looks really nice though, I'm jealous you got in Ispeed! The other park looks pretty cute as well, yay for the Snow White themed thing.

Glad you guys are having fun, I enjoyed reading this so far.

^I believe Richard has a photo for you :p

Ok, I suppose I better write up the third and final day report :(

Monday, 21st September

We woke up in our nice Ibis hotel to a murky looking sky :?

8927_268527120359_529160359_8875291_6580811_n.jpg

But after getting a nice breakfast at the hotel (which had some amazing pain au chocolats) we got in the car and set off for Gardaland. When we got there we had to get our tickets, they had their main character on them...

8927_268527125359_529160359_8875292_8137427_n.jpg

By the time we got to the entrance the park had already opened, which was nice. So the first thing we did was walk all the way to the Vekoma SLC, Blue Tornado. The walk there was so long and it was down a hill and then up a hill, felt like we were never going to get there :p

Oh well, Blue Tornado was on one train operation which meant that we had to wait for it to go round once before getting on. Waiting for a Vekoma SLC is never fun...

8927_268527135359_529160359_8875293_5217533_n.jpg

8927_268527145359_529160359_8875294_5592366_n.jpg

What do I think of Blue Tornado? The way I feel about every Vekoma SLC I've been on...horrible torture. Why do parks build these evil contraptions? It was smoother than the two UK ones I've ridden, I'll give it that, but the inversions (the majority of the ride) were still painful as hell in those restraints.

So the first coaster out of the way and it already felt like our shoulders were bashed in by a sledge hammer. So what's next? Another Vekoma? Oh no, but hey, this is the one I was looking forward to, the very well themed Mamut. It looks awesome, but does it ride as well as it looks?

8927_268527170359_529160359_8875297_8108521_n.jpg

8927_268527150359_529160359_8875295_4596834_n.jpg

8927_268527160359_529160359_8875296_4484522_n.jpg

Answer? No, it hurts...A LOT. This probably wasn't helped by sitting in the front seat with Richard so I could get a POV. Half way round I bang my head really hard on the theming of the train, it hurt. So this is one of those 'never judge a book by it's cover' type stories. Have fun with it.

A POV for you lovely peeps...

Next was the Flying Island. I was very intrigued by this as I heard rumours years ago that Chesington was planning on getting one and I never knew what they were.

8927_268527175359_529160359_8875298_5992281_n.jpg

It was really nice and peaceful. No scratched window either so you could take some lovely photos of the view. You could really see how large the park is and Lake Garda (which is next to the park) looked beautiful. I think if we had an evening in the area we would have definitely taken a closer look (sorry no photos, I filmed on ride, maybe I'll post a video one day of it).

Then we went on this short drop tower. It actually took us a while to find the entrance of the queue which was amusing (we weren't the only ones that got lost either).

8927_268527185359_529160359_8875299_8361376_n.jpg

It had a great themed queueline, it was meant to be a space station and it felt like something out of Aliens or 2001, great stuff. The drop was short but it packed a punch, a bit like London Dungeon's Extremis and Thorpe's Detonator. We approved.

We then strolled into a more wooden area of the park. This is where Sequoia Adventure and Magic Mountain were located. We decided as a group that we should do Sequoia Adventure coaster first as it looked horrible. A S&S Screamin' Squirrel.

Richard and Will coming back into the station
8927_268527200359_529160359_8875300_1614395_n.jpg

How should I put this? Umm, I plead S&S to never build another one of these anywhere else. It looks interesting, it looks painful and it is both of these things. It's not a pleasant ride at all. The track is also bizarre and is like no other track I've seen before. I think the painful aspect of this experience overshadows the interesting element though. I suppose you could also say it has good suspense before the 'drops'.

Well after that random coaster we headed for Magic Mountain. Oh, I should also point out that like no one else had ventured this far into the park yet so it was really dead which meant...

8927_268527215359_529160359_8875302_7274199_n.jpg

Well, it says 5 but it was really walk on (same with Sequoia Adventure).

8927_268527205359_529160359_8875301_478123_n.jpg

I like Magic Mountain. It had a new restraint system which is AMAZING! Vekoma, act now, put it on ALL of your coasters...NOW! New restraints meant...No headbanging! Absolutely awesome. I didn't take a picture of the restraints so I'll try to explain. They are made out of like a rubbery plastic and use a mechanism which is used on car seat belts (you know the bit you pull). That doesn't make a lot of sense so hopefully it won't be too long until Richard posts his pic of it.

Back to the ride though. We sat at the back, it was really fun, fast and had some great inversions (two loops and two corkscrews). I really enjoyed it and was on the list of things we had to re-ride.

Next was the new shooting dark ride for this year, Ramses.

8927_268527220359_529160359_8875303_1857014_n.jpg

8927_268527225359_529160359_8875304_7792984_n.jpg

8927_268527230359_529160359_8875305_6811148_n.jpg

8927_268527235359_529160359_8875306_2066992_n.jpg

This was amazing. One of the best dark rides I've ever been on, it also rivalled Reset at Mirabilandia. It was like The Mummy meets Terminator on steroids. The special effects were great, the shooting system I loved and just the overall theme was just superb. It's so good that it makes me angry but I'll get to that in the trip overview at the end (or in a separate post).

My score
8927_268527250359_529160359_8875307_3414210_n.jpg

What I liked was that even the shop at the exit was well themed to the attraction, didn't really have merchandise for the ride but it sold items themed to Egypt etc which I thought was a great idea.

8927_268527270359_529160359_8875310_539358_n.jpg

We then walked into this other area. We didn't have a map so we were unsure where we were going. Anyway we came across this area which was like an old English town or Pirate village. It had this massive boat sitting in a bit of water and the overall area was very impressive.

8927_268527275359_529160359_8875311_6694296_n.jpg

8927_268527280359_529160359_8875312_7601882_n.jpg

8927_268527285359_529160359_8875313_7949186_n.jpg

8927_268527290359_529160359_8875314_8289480_n.jpg

So why was this area here? We saw no rides, just shops and a massive fast food restaurant. We walk round the corner and see a sign for a ride but still no sign of said ride. We then enter a queueline which takes us onto the boat...

8927_268527295359_529160359_8875315_581928_n.jpg

We then find ourselves walking down inside the lower levels of the boat which then turns into a cave, we go lower and lower and then...

...We find a station for a boat ride similar to Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean. WTF, where did this come from? The theming was top notch, didn't really understand the storyline (if there was one) but it looked great.

8927_268527315359_529160359_8875318_1072410_n.jpg

8927_268527325359_529160359_8875320_2736303_n.jpg

The exit of the attraction then leads into the massive fast food restaurant which looked amazing, we were to return to this location for foodage.

8927_268527335359_529160359_8875322_6735145_n.jpg

We then went back towards Magic Mountain as the kiddy area behind it had opened up. Our first ride in this area was a teacups ride...

8927_268527350359_529160359_8875324_8198115_n.jpg

8927_268527360359_529160359_8875325_21082_n.jpg

It was quite pleasant, well for me anyways as I decided I didn't want spinny times (hence being in my own cup).

After that nice ride we went to go on the last rollercoaster the park had to offer, Ortobruco Tour. A little kiddy coaster. It was really nice and I rather enjoyed it.

8927_268527365359_529160359_8875326_8296543_n.jpg

Here is a POV:

We then opted for the small monorail which goes round the area but first we had to get some ice cream!

The monorail had some nice views of the rides near by.

I didn't take great pics due to the nomming of ice cream

After riding the monorail we decided to re-ride Magic Mountain as we were near by.

8927_268527380359_529160359_8875328_6610112_n.jpg

This time we sat at the front. It made a major difference. It was even more forceful and a bit rough but I still enjoyed it. I also filmed a POV which failed right near the end :p

We then walked up the small hill to the log flume. The others rode but I took advantage of the time to take footage of the surrounding attractions.

They didn't seem to get wet but Will didn't end up riding as he decided to fight Richard for the back seat and failed. Will didn't really fancy sitting at the front of the boat :p

We then decided for POV filming only reasons, to go back on the evil Sequoia Adventure. So for your enjoyment a POV full of Will commentary and me screaming in pain...

The ORP was quite amusing so I purchased it and did a pick up later thing. While we were waiting for this to be sorted we had some amusing times with the staff. When we got there one of them was creating some really basic image in paint just saying the word 'Foto', this highly amused Richard. It amused him so much that he felt like using the frame for the ORP TV screens to create amusing photos with us in the frame. Can't wait to see how those pics turned out. So we were highly amused, the staff were highly amused I think that means it was a good time. Oh and here is the ORP...

8927_268527110359_529160359_8875290_2646405_n.jpg

We then wandered round to a Wild West area. It was heavily themed, even had a church! It didn't have any rides but it did have a Wild West show which we missed, oh wells. We did however find an information kiosk which supplied us with maps :D

8927_268527450359_529160359_8875338_316030_n.jpg

We then came across this very weird ride called Tunga. It was basically a jungle river type attraction which was a mix between King Kong and Tarzan. It was ok, quite relaxing and very long. It had some ok animatronics and theming but it wasn't anything exciting.

8927_268527495359_529160359_8875344_7864541_n.jpg

We were getting hungry by this point so we went back to the Pirate themed area. The food wasn't badly priced and was quite nice. For me though it was all about the theming inside...

8927_268527505359_529160359_8875346_4416215_n.jpg

I just loved it, I mean that was just carved into every table, amazing.

Food
8927_268527515359_529160359_8875348_7526800_n.jpg

It was very empty but it just meant we could appreciate the theming of the place more...

8927_268527525359_529160359_8875350_6492095_n.jpg

8927_268527570359_529160359_8875357_1067301_n.jpg

And then Will made a phone call which possessed Richard and Lain to poke him with plastic cutlery...

8927_268527535359_529160359_8875352_7402268_n.jpg

After refuelling ourselves we headed to the random kiddy area near the entrance.

8927_268527595359_529160359_8875361_238818_n.jpg

The centrepiece of this area was this massive tree which housed an attraction and also offered a viewing platform at the top.

8927_268527610359_529160359_8875363_6678499_n.jpg

We waited for the next lift. The lift took us down and there was something announced in Italian which for obvious reasons we didn't understand. We then excited and this character animatronic sat on this shelf or whatever and said lots in Italian, some effects and then we went into another room which was a madhouse, it was quite good, I liked the music.

8927_268527640359_529160359_8875368_7388438_n.jpg

On our way to the next area we saw these fountains, they were good fun.

8927_268527650359_529160359_8875370_5843065_n.jpg

Will tried to catch the water...

8927_268527660359_529160359_8875372_1904488_n.jpg

and so did Lain....

8927_268527670359_529160359_8875374_4769624_n.jpg

This resulted in them getting a little wet. Fun times.

We then came across Ikarus which was quite cool.

8927_268527695359_529160359_8875378_2888867_n.jpg

I filmed a POV of it...

We then went to the area with the two big water rides. A rapids themed around a volcano and Asia. It was quite good, didn't get us soaked like the one at Mirabilandia but it was enjoyable and the theming was top notch.

8927_268527775359_529160359_8875389_6771033_n.jpg

We spent quite some time in the shop so we could put Will in more hats...

8927_268527845359_529160359_8875400_3368803_n.jpg

We then went to the Atlantis themed boat ride.

8927_268527890359_529160359_8875406_4275986_n.jpg

I didn't feel like going on but as you can tell from the above pics, it was well themed and as you can see in the below pic the others enjoyed it

8927_268527910359_529160359_8875410_3348081_n.jpg

We were running out of time now so we decided upon one last ride. We ended up choosing Ramses as it was just so amazing.

On our way Richard noticed some hats which he hadn't forced Will to wear yet so we stopped for more hat flavoured antics. While this was going on I noticed this....

8927_268527955359_529160359_8875417_4337955_n.jpg

WANT! I love Nutella. We worked out that we would only be allowed two of these in our hand luggage on our plane home without anything else (who needs clothes right?)

Anyway we got straight back on Ramses and once again it was just amazing. And because I'm amazing I filmed a POV for you :D

See? How f*cking awesome is that?

So, that was our time at Gardaland and our time in Italy was also coming to and end. Sad times....

8927_268527990359_529160359_8875421_6349252_n.jpg

Our journey to the airport was ok apart from it was boiling hot...

8927_268528015359_529160359_8875425_111952_n.jpg

And we got lost several times, stupid satnav. We also needed to fill the petrol tank up before taking it back to the hire company. This resulted in silly times and then the petrol station was an unmaned one where you paid in this stupid machine which frustrated Richard so it must be bad.

Oh well, after failing the filling up of the car we still went to the airport. We handed the stuff back to the hire company and then just as we were going up the escalator to the departure lounge Lain realises that he left his wallet in the car. Darn. So we all run down the escalator and back to the hire company. We then waited age for Lain to go back to the car and come back with his wallet.

Our plane was delayed by an hour, typical Ryanair. So we spent our time waiting by eating nice foods and talking to Will about things he didn't want to discuss. Hilarity for us, not quite for Will. Anyways we finally got on the plane and ended up back in the UK :(

Overall thoughts and thank yous

I absolutely loved the trip and I'm very happy that I got the chance to go to Italy and experience it. I loved visiting Verona and San Marino and all three parks. The theming out there is just so good and to me that makes a park soo much better. All the rides were great (apart from the evil Vekomas and S&S coasters at Gardaland), I was just so shocked at the way the staff dealt with long queues too, very efficient. The weather was ok, maybe a bit too hot for my liking but that was expected.

So, what didn't I like about the trip? There wasn't much I didn't like but knowing that Merlin own and run Gardaland really annoyed me because I saw what they can do, they had a Pirate themed dark ride UNDER a village and the new Ramses attraction was superb. So how come they can't create amazing attractions like these in the UK? It annoys me and I feel like sending a massive letter detailing my full frustration about this to Merlin lol. :p

I'd like to thank everyone for reading my lengthy report and commenting (that makes me happy :D) and for Will, Lain and Richard making the trip an experience I'll never forget. To thank you I made this little video, enjoy....

That was a very interesting 30mins of my life, and i thank you for it :)

One day, i'll have the guts to ask some of you guys to come abroad or something.... who knows :p

That was great, thanks for sharing! Looks like a fun trip :). San Marino looks really beautiful, never seen photos of/from the area before, so that was also appreciated.

I like it, Peep. Excellent choice of music, Italy was definitely our favourite game. Can't wait to do more trips next year!
