Incident on BTM at DLP

peep

CF Legend
Reports have been coming in that part of the rockwork on the last lift hill on Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland Paris has fallen and seriously injured a guest and given a further four guests minor injuries.

Sounds quite serious and the ride was due to start a scheduled refurbishment from the 9th May till the 27th. Looks like it'll probably be closed until then now as they need to make a full enquiry about the incident.

I hope the guy is ok but whatever the situation this doesn't look very good for Disney.

More info as it comes in at DLRP Today - Link

From InsideDLP twitter:
RT @PhotosMagiques Another Big Thunder Mountain incident this evening the last car of a train derailed while riding at low speed No injuries

Sounds like they were lucky. Still rather worrying though, how can the whole last car derail?!

^ Yes, I think it was the front car though, on one of the American BTM's, which caused a fatality from what I can remember.

^Yeah, it was the front car and I think it led to 6-10 months of downtime. Seems like they need to keep a closer eye to the stress on the wheels.

Update from Inside DLP:

Big Thunder Mountain is closed until further notice, after one of the wagons derailed yesterday evening..

To think its only recently reopened after the other incident.

I'm sure it happened on two other BTMs, maybe this one was feeling left out.

But, I guess the poor wheel assembly remembered it was French and surrendered.
