IDEATTACK Unveils Designs for USD225m Chuzhou Theme Park, China
12 April 2016

Global destination design and planning company, IDEATTACK, has unveiled designs for Chuzhou Theme Park in Anhui Province, China.

Slated to open in 2017, the USD225m world-class leisure destination features 37 main attractions and shows with themes ranging from adventure, fantasy and science-fiction to regional and Chinese heritage and culture.

Specially created food, beverage and retail offerings have been designed to underpin the theming throughout the 50-acre site and further enhance the guest experience.

Zone 1: Dream City

Zone 1 represents the overarching theme of the entire park - the Azure Dragon in a form of dream and heaven.

Encompassing the main parts of the theme park, entrance plaza and gate and Azure Dragon Island, Dream City will feature 4 major attractions and a rich dining and retail offering.

Zone 2: Colourful China

Zone 2 is dedicated to the heritage and culture of China. It will contain 3 major attractions celebrating some of China's natural and architectural wonders. Retail and dining will include the Mysterious Xuan Caves Restaurant and Great China Souvenir Shop.

Zone 3: Space Terminal

The central themes of the Space Terminal Zone are the Universe, space technology and science fiction. Visitors will be immersed in a hi-tech, space-age environment with colourful lighting effects and space-related theming.

The zone features 6 major immersive attractions. Retail and dining outlets include the UFO Supermarket, Time Capsule Restaurant, Planet Café, Milky Way Ice Cream Parlor, Rocket Snack and Souvenir Carts.

Zone 4: Fantasy World

Guests enter a magical world of fairytales and enchanted environments via rainbow arches.

This zone features 7 major attractions supported by themed retail and dining experiences: Bijouterie Market, Magic Shop, Fairytale Hollow, Wizard’s Pub, Hobbit’s Restaurant, Imaginary Creatures Carts.

Zone 5: Silk Road

Zone 5 is dedicated to the ancient trade route, the Silk Road and the western regions of China. 7 unique attractions, including the Sandstorm Surfers Coaster (below), feature various themes associated with the Silk Road.

Guests can enjoy merchandise from distant lands and local cuisine from the Silk Road countries: Bukhara Bazaar, Silk Road Souvenir Shop, Caravanserai Restaurant, Desert Café.

Zone 6: Wandong County

Zone 6 is dedicated to the theme park’s host county and its regional culture. Wandong County will feature four exciting attractions as well as a retail and dining programme reflecting local customs and delicacies: Ancient Anhui Restaurant, Chuzhou Marketplace Souvenirs, Craftsman Ally, Snack Carts.

Zone 7: Chaos

Zone 7 is themed on a legend from Chinese mythology that tells the story the beginning of the world. Six attractions, including the Jungle Snake Flume Ride (below) will deliver the thrill of danger and adventure as visitors experience an entertaining twist on the dark side of the world.

Themed retail and dining includes the Lava Restaurant, Crater Shops, Great Flood Soda Fountain, Warrior Souvenir and Snack Carts.

IDEATTACK Inc., with headquarters in Los Angeles, specialises in the planning and design of large scale mixed-use developments, custom theme parks, cultural attractions, destination resorts, latest trend immersive entertainment environments, sports entertainment facilities, and eco-friendly residential complexes.

So it's pretty much Disneyland with a Chinese theme, and more thrill-based attractions. Thoughts? Will this ever take off? Will plans change?

Opening next year. Of course it is.

Sounds more like a concept being thrown around than an actual development.

Love the idea this will open in 2017 :p

I also suspect it wont be as good as it looks. Check out the image on the page linked to above showing off the park plan. The interesting mine train looking coaster on that page is shown top left of the map as a knock off SLC layout.

Chuzhou is an odd place. it has a number of random tourist attractions under construction including this very odd Sphinx at a cultrual park

^ The sphinx has recently been demolished, or at least I think it's that one. Something to do with Egypt claiming it's damaging their tourist industry.

^ that makes noooo sense. But it's China so yeah sure.... probably exactly that. It's still on the Google Earth image but its out of date by over a year

This page suggests the park in the OP is called Chuzhou Yuanwang Cultural Tech & Cultural Industry Park

This is just speculation but it sounds pretty similar to Liuzhou Cultural And Scientific Experience Park. the concept art looks similar style too. Possibly an OCT park?

Chuzhou

Possible but not certain.

Edit: on closer inspection IdeAttack did the art for both. which i guess is obvious enough. They also did the one in Beijing which is also OCT

Just double checked. It's not the Chuzhou Sphinx that's been removed, it's another one in Shijiazhuang:

A copycat Sphinx statue has been torn down by authorities in Shijiazhuang, capital city of north China's Hebei province, after reportedly another complaint by cultural heritage department of Egypt.

The 20 meters high and 60 meters long statue, almost the same size of the real one in Egypt, was built in 2014 in a local industrial park for film and TV shooting.

After its completion, Egypt authorities filed a complaint to the UNESCO in May of 2014, saying the constructor of the statue should notify Egypt authorities if it was the purpose of shooting film and TV according to international conventions.

Egypt authorities also believed that the copycat statue differs greatly in details from the real one and this may affect people's appreciation to the real one and could possibly affect the tourism, film and TV shooting industries in Egypt.

The constructor of the statue started to bear more pressure after media reports questioning the purpose and legality of the copycat statue.

Experts note that actually relevant international conventions don't include items that ban the act of copycatting world cultural heritage sites.

However, after several complaints from Egypt authorities for the copycat sphinx statue, UNESCO may start to consider rectifying relevant laws and regulations.

So, you can all go ahead and book your Chuzhou tickets now; their sphinx is still there.
