From my screen name/avatar, can probably guess I'm a big fan of dragons. And HTTYD is one of my all time favorite movies. So for me, the below preview for How To Train Your Dragon Arena Spectacular is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen, thought I'd share!:

Am really impressed with all the groundbreaking large-scale walking animatronic puppetry coming out of http://www.creaturetechnology.com/ But these new dragons are probably the closest anyone will ever get to seeing a realistic "living" dragon! Beautiful work guys, even more impressive IMO than Disney's Lucky (the walking dinosaur) or any of their stationary animatronic dragons like in Paris and California.

Can't wait to see how convincing they bring Toothless/Night Fury to life!
 
Really neat, but why did they ruin it with the blue/red strobe light in the mouth?

Yeah, looks cool. I'd like to see it with the skin stripped away.
 
Same technology as the walking with dinos isn't it?

I wish films would use models more than cgi, it looks so infinitely better.

Amazing. I want it.

Did I miss something? I didn't notice any strobing???

Looks amazing, I love the smoke effects!

On this clip, the puppeteer refers to the strobe as "fire"(http://vimeo.com/27802416). I imagine using real fire from the mouth would be out of the question with all the flammable materials used for the realistic skins. Hopefully the strobe effect/fire from the side looks better live. Would also love to see them without skins!

Definitely from the same guys that did walking with dinos, which were pretty impressive themselves. Check out this promo they did in Japan for the show (http://vimeo.com/12225114), the reactions are pretty funny! And I agree, would also love to see these more utilized in movies and even theme park rides. Trackless ride system + pack of their T-Rex's chasing you down = so awesome!!

I know they couldn't actually use fire, but it doesn't stop the strobe thing they did use making it look much tackier. Would've been better with no lights at all and just the smoke.
