Hersheypark may honor former employee

(5/20/13) Screamscape sources tell us that Hersheypark may soon unveil some kind of memorial in front of the Wildcat for an employee who passed away from cancer earlier this year by the name of Nick Pantalone. Nick was said to have been just 19 when he passed away after suffering from an aggressive form of cancer for 3 years. I’ve also heard that his voice may be added to some of the recordings on the Wildcat, Lightning Racer and Great Bear attractions.
“Nick was a Four Diamonds kid at the Hershey Med Center, a foundation that helps families with kids that have pediatric cancer. Four Diamonds pays for expensive treatments (each shot can be over $1,000), pays for counseling, and even pays to help children achieve what would otherwise be impossible to make the best of a terrible situation.” I look forward to hearing more about this when Hersheypark makes the official unveiling.

Now this isn't much of a story yet, but I thought it needed to be posted to share what a park will (may) do for a former patient who died of cancer. I knew him a few years ago from another site, and I talked to him on facebook on occasion to see how he was. He was so optimistic and he used the park and his job as an escape. I really hope this does end up being true, because I've never heard of something like this happening before.

It's good that a park is willing to make an effort to remember a good employee that was lost in such a way - so props to Hershey if they do, it shows they're a little less soulless than a lot of big corporate parks (though that's obvious when you visit the place).

It is up already. It is a very nice memorial of him and quite simple, but speaks volumes for the park as well.

A memorial plaque or whatever is nice enough, but having his voice on ride announcements is a fantastic tribute. I really like that idea.

Ah, that voice announcement is similar to what one of the underground stations in London did for a past conductor. Can't remember which station though.
