It was my birthday on Friday the 4th and I quite fancied a new park for the day so we decided on Paulton's, as it caters very well for kids.
We got there for around 10 and made our way in via the new entrance.
SonofTom was very interested in the watery globe.
We went towards the thrill area of the park and found a couple of kiddi rides for SonofTom to enjoy.
He loved the seal ride so while he had a re ride I went to get a couple of runs on Cobra, the Gerstlauer bobsled.
I'd only been on Gerst mine trains and Eurofighters so this was a new experience for me. It was excellent.
The initial drop gave good airtime and left my stomach behind on every ride and the helix following the drop was smooth and fast. Then followed a few mouse style turns with heavy lats, which aren't really my cup of tea.
Then the ride went into fab mode, another helix and a brilliant direction change which was smooth as silk into another helix and then into the bunny hops which have great airtime, one of which into the headchopper tunnel. The ride finished with another helix and hit the brakes.
It's a nice small ride, good drop, nice helixes, airtime hops and it's super smooth and re rideable. Great little coaster.
Had 2 runs before the family caught up with me, it was quiet and ops are decent.
Next up was the SBF drop tower Magma.
Decently themed to a volcano with a Velociraptor caged inside the queue line. The seats are comfortable and the smoke effect is great, there is loads of smoke just before the ride vehicle is lifted up. Unfortunately this is the best part of the ride.
The drops are tame and short, all it needs is to have one full drop into the volcano and it could be really good. Obviously it caters to kids, not teenagers(or goony 30 something year olds).
We then went on the trampolines for a while and SonofTom played in the massive bouncy castle so I went on the Dragon Ride.
Very intense and a bit sick inducing, think rocky express @ Thorpe going backwards as well, bleugh.
Ran away without taking a picture.
Next up was cred 2, Flying Frog.
Managed to get SonofTom on this with me (his 3rd cred ) he seemed to enjoy it. Standard kiddy cred, not much to report.
We then queued for the massive Astroslide!!
What a great slide! Really fast with little pops of airtime. It's a shame they don't own more mats as the ops are really slow here, having to wait for the other set of riders to give back the mats before the next set walk up the stairs.
Moving on, we went to see the dinosaurs, the T Rex got a lot of attention.
There's a decent amount of dinos in this walk through, but they need a clean.
Raaaarrrrr!
We had some lunch and moved to the next area of the park which was home to the wind in the willows.
It's basically a Wickes shed with some animatronics, feels a bit cheap. SonofTom loved it though, so much so that I was dragged through again. I drew the line at 2 and we went on the final cred.
You can hear this from the other side of the park, but it's just your standard Zierer. We sat at the back, ignoring the advice for young kids to sit nearer the front (4th cred!). Immediately realized why when it crested the hill and we were both flung out of our seats, it's actually a bit violent. The rest of the circuit is pretty boring, but you do get 2 laps.
It was nearly time to explore Peppa Pig World but there were a couple more rides to go on.
Next was the tractor ride, we got a family pic.
Then was my second favorite ride at Paultons, Wave Runner.
It was ridiculously fast, and the three humps really lift you off your seat. We immediately went for a re ride. Fab.
Peppa time. Such a great kids area, easily the best themed area in the uk, super busy as you would expect though. The Tee was a birthday present, and it's awesome.
First point of call was Peppa's balloon ride.
This has a rotating disc to turn the balloon in the middle, WifeofTom was not impressed with my spinning as it makes her ill. Never mind.
We then took a ride on Grandpa pigs train.
What noise does the train make?
Then me and SonofTom went on George's Dinosaur Adventure.
Totally unique and good fun, really good theming and has most of the characters from the program throughout the circuit. Queue was too long for a re ride but was good fun and very much a must do.
We then invaded Peppa's house and found them making pancakes!
Boat ride yay!
We had a blue boat, WifeofTom particularly enjoyed this, it rose and fell and water sprayed from the boat in front.
SonofTom played in Mr Potato's playground which gave me the opportunity to get a few more flats in.
Poor compared to other pirate ships I've ridden.
Long cycle with a few decent drops, not any better than magma.
Got a re ride of stinger in as well, middle of the train, very bog standard without the back seat ejector.
Met back up with the family and we went on the Rio Grande train. No pic of the train but have an interrupted selfie instead.
Nice and relaxing train ride, saw some animals, can't remember what they were.
Then was the new for 2014 carousel
We went on the top level SonofTom rode a horsey while we sat on a bench next to him. The detail on the ride is excellent. There are tea cups and horses and carriage seats to choose from.
I then went on Kontiki, which was ok, but wouldn;t bother again.
We then went back to the adventure part of the park and did the log flume. We got very wet, luckily the sun came out at this point.
I then had a ride on Edge, which was the best Disk-o I've been on so far. A smidgen of airtime over the hump.
The day finished with a couple more rides on Cobra and we were herded out of the park via the new shop.
All in all it's a brilliant family park. SonofTom went on loads of rides and attractions so he had a great time. Peppa World is fab, it's massive and takes half a day at least to get everything done.
Good park for adults to have some fun but only Cobra is of any relevance to us.
Thanks for reading, sorry it's not as interesting as Thorpe Gavin
