GCI Morey's Piers 2013

D1993

Hyper Poster
I remember hearing about this rumor a while back, and Im so glad that its actually happening now!
A GCI will go in great at Morey's Piers and the layout looks really cool, as it has a tunnel under the boardwalk and also extends over to the other side.

^ Well, it seems pretty much confirmed they're going to work on getting in built.

It looks brilliant, we need more woodies opening nowadays.

^ I know it will most likely open. I just can't imagine a tiny little park like Morey's get such a great coaster.

^ It's not a tiny park by any means. Fair enough, nothing they have is very good, but they've got several major coasters (SLC, Boomerang, and they already have quite a big woodie). If somewhere like PowerLand in Finland can get a GCI then why not? Of course, there are loads of examples, loads of tiny parks that have randomly got a big coaster, which isn't even what Morey's is as it's huge.

What about the bridge over the beach...without any wooden supports? Looks cool but I can't really see it happening! It's just after the tunnel.

OMG

Clearly they've designed something that will collapse!11!!!

On the other hand, maybe not.

Do you just not have any concept of how the idea of a BRIDGE works? Do you need someone to reinsert your frontal lobes for you?

^Except this new bridge looks approximately a million times more awesome with the suspension design. Which is saying something, as Ravine Flyer II's is AWESOME. :P

Insert rant about how it's just a rendering and will probably look different when complete here...

I can imagine this ride will be like the rides at Indiana Beach, so it will probably be built on stilts.

^ I do realise it is just a rendering, but then looking at the rest of the supports in the render, they look pretty realistic. So yeah, I think it'll probably turn out like that.

Really like the compact design, especially how it seems to be RVII 2.0 as pointed out above.

I'm sure the train will be booking it through the entire course.

^ Nope I have no idea.
I dont really know the layout of Morey's Piers, so I cant really tell which part of the park its going in and what rides might be moving to make way for it .....

Pretty sure we're looking at a weird lift hill support thing.

See rest of ride support diagram, see lifthill.

People who wanted to know what's going to be removed...

The new wooden coaster replaces two classic Morey's Piers rides, the Wipe Out giant slide on the Surfside Pier that marked the start of the seaside park and the 1960 indoor Golden Nugget mine train coaster on Hunt's Pier that was relocated to Knoebels in Pennsylvania as Black Diamond.

Could have actually read the article <//3 The Golden Nugget was SBNO for years, btw.

I remember UC showing me the plans for this in 2008 or so (can't remember the link to them anymore). They've been planning this for so long. Nice to see that it's finally happening & only a two hour drive away.
