The iconic I Corsari water dark ride at Italy’s Gardaland has been announced to close on August 18th, with the park promising ”a world of new immersive adventures” taking its place.

(only the Italian page has the closure announcement as of now)

Is another re-theme coming? Or is the ride getting taken out in its entirety and replaced with something else?

Grave shame as this was a favourite of mine on my visit! Shaman or Blue Tornado would of been the preferred scrap Tbf. But yeah it’s a shame as it was a sleeper hit imo.

Suprising. Especially as it got a really good overhaul just recently. But true, it was never quite busy. Very sad because it was very good.

I believe the overhaul was back in 2018, so actually quite recent. The main reason for the rides short queue was always it's location in the longest dead-end I've ever seen in a theme park. Takes you solid 10 minutes of walking just to get to the next decent ride.
I take it you haven't been to Mirabilandia (or just gave up on your way to Reset).

A bit bummed I didn't get a chance to re-ride it on our recent visit with CF, when we got to the park late and the ride ended up closing even earlier than its already early 8pm closing time. Hopefully it's replaced by something decent. There's a lot of space down there.

Reset was closed last time I visited, but now that you mentioned it - i Corsari is the second longest dead-end I know.

I've no clue what this is, but I'm glad I'm visiting Gardaland on the 13th so that I can experience it

The ride is on their Monopoly game that they are selling this year for their 49th anniversary. That could be a positive sign!

Per newly added park maps whatever’s replacing I Corsari is set to open next year.

According to a user on Coasterfriends.de who visited a couple of weeks back, the boats are currently being stored backstage and the pirate ship facade hasn’t seen any noticable changes since it closed. Perhaps we could be looking at another re-theme as opposed to a full replacement.

I just hope they don't get rid of all the great sets that ride had. The old I Corsari was one of the best dark rides in Europe, not to mention a very unique take on the classic pirate formula. I still struggle to understand why they got rid of I Corsari.

Gardaland has confirmed that I Corsari will be transformed into Animal Treasure Island for the park’s 50th anniversary in 2025. The €10 million makeover will maintain the current ride system but see the ride inhabit a completely new story and its many setpieces redone into a brand-new ride experience. The park hopes the attraction will launch a new IP for Merlin Entertainments that they hope to expand to their sister parks in the future.

So it looks to be a ride adaptation of a fairly unknown 70s anime? Of course the original Treasure Island novel is pretty iconic, but if they have decided to adapt the animated film, why not simply adapt the book itself? Seems a bit strange to go for an obscure IP, unless it's a complete coincidence that they share the same name and concept? However, the idea of cloning a dark ride across multiple park seems very lazy and slapdash if that's what they intend to do? Surely a thing that helps set parks apart from each other is their distinctive original themes? I completely understand the commercial advantage of duplicating the Minecraft and Jumanji themes to other attractions in their portfolio because they're so well known and beloved to their specific and very wide audiences, but this really does stink of laziness to me.
