Flamingoland July 30th

Giga Poster
Was stopping in York to visit relatives this week, so I took a trip up to Flamingoland with my dad and my sister. After a load of faffing about trying to find offers for money off entry in Malton (or more, faffing about trying to find the tourist information office) we finally got to the park at about 10:45.

So, after all that we got to our first ride which was-

Mumbo Jumbo

I have to say, the queue looked pretty short, so I was expecting a short queue. Unfortunately for everybody, the ride ops were only letting one train out at a time (despite having 3 trains out) and to add to the long wait, there were also people using q-buster. After waiting what was probably about 1 1/2 hours, we finally made it onto the ride and in all honesty it was a bit rubbish. It didn't do much for me. :x

But never mind, after some rather nice Flamingoland sausage and chips it was onto-

Velocity

This had a queue of roughly the same length, but since the trains hold 12 more people, the time was about 20-30 minutes. Velocity is still great fun, not so much as Intamin accelerators, but that's not important.

After Velocity, we did Navigator, as usual being fun but nothing special and then-

Kumali

After not having much fun on Kumali at last year's CF-Live ERT, I was rather pleasantly surprised with how good it was. I was riding front row and actually the forces were really fun particularly in the cobra roll and the zero-G roll.

Leaving Kumali, we made our way to Cliffhanger, which had an extremely slow moving queue due to the number of q-buster people being put into the ride. There were some rides where only about 5 people were taken from the normal queue. Cliffhanger seemed less forceful than usual, but still the park's best ride.

At this point we had planned to do Wild Mouse, but it seemed to have a long queue, so we skipped it. Instead we headed to Corkscrew, which was a walk on. And it was rough, but I didn't expect much else.

By now, we were about to leave, so Katy and I went on the cycle monorail to finish off the day. Dad instead opted for the Mine train coaster of death.

All in all, fun day, but large queues, some not handled well, did put a slight downer on the day.

Sounds like you had a good time. Shame about the queues and tbh I'm not surprised you didn't think Mumbo Jumbo was great.

Shame that you didn't enjoy Mumbo, I am going on two weeks time to get the credit :).
Just a question about the Q-Buster thing, do you purchase it at the same place where you buy your ticket and then once you have your wristband you just text the ride name and your code to the number that they give you, then just walk in through exit when it says it is time?

No, there are booths throughout the park, and yes that's pretty much exactly what you do.

Mumbo Jumbo is a little like the Wild Mouse at BPB, albeit on steroids; your opinion on that will dictate whether you like the ride or not. Personally I love it.

Really? But I love Wild Mouse. Wild Mouse is just high speed corners, crazy airtime and drops and lots of fun. Mumbo Jumbo just seems to spend a lot of time lurching around not doing much.

I think it's just a nice addition to FL, and lots of people have said that the ride varies massively to where you sit in the car, so that may explain differences in opinion, but the reason I personally like it, like the wild mouse, you feel as if you are prone, and about to come off at any point, which adds to the fun of it. Too many coasters these days are intent on flinging you as fast as it can or to overwhelm you with g-forces; it's just nice to see one doing something slightly differently.

There are qbuster booths near the new adult bar, and near MJ and kumali, amongst others.

Nice report jayjay, sounds exactly the same as the day I had last week.

I too expected to get through Mumbo Jumbo's queue quickly but due to the slow loading it took about an hour on both occassions. I felt the Q-Bot system really slowed Kumali down as the exit queue was constantly filling up with people and they were loading very slowly too.

I agree with you about Mumbo Jumbo it wasn't that good but if it had shorted queues and I could have got a few more rides in my opinion might have been different. Even the people in the queue and on the ride with me didn't seem too impressed with it.
