FLAMINGO LAND
Right so after the new ride Hero opened up last week, a trip to Flamingo Land was in store, I hadn't been to the park for 2 years now, so I wanted to see how the park has progressed. Well then, some area's of the park are fantastic, then others have a lot to be desired. Flamingo has a really great ride line up, but then some of the worst operations I have ever seen. The worst example of this is on Kumarli, a queue line of this length at any other park would have been a 5 minute queue, but then at Flamingo Land, the queue ended up being 20minutes. This was down to extremely slow dispatches and very poor handling of the queue.
I noticed when I was on velocity that the Corkscrew site had some construction going on and I'm not sure if they were Corkscrew's old supports, but I did see coaster supports on site, as well as rebar and other various things to do look like a coaster is being built. I'm not saying anything to soon though.
Onto the reviews then.
Hero
As most of you know, Hero is the latest addition to the park, this ride I was rather looking forward to, the lift hill is cool to say the least and very dominating, the ride looked smooth and thrill from an off ride point of view, but then... As we boarded the horrible cars, it all started going down hill. Those cars are horrendous! You are in pain before the ride has even started. Once we climbed the spiral lift hill (what was rather cool), the ride rattled and threw you around like no tomorrow, everyone was glad to get off the ride.
Mumbo Jumbo
I've always loved this little ride since it was built, I has a really good first drop, the outbanked turn is fun and the hangtime on the dive loop? is great. The standout element in the ride has to be the downwards inline, that really finishes the ride was excellently. The capacity is a nightmare for this ride though, that isn't the parks fault though so cant complain. The theming around the rides entrance is also nice and still looks fresh.
Kumarli
Now this ride has a stunning setting and really nice theming, but then all of that is quickly forgotten as soon as you enter that queue! The staff on this ride are easily some of the slowest theme park staff I have come across, the ride now only has one train so that doesn't help, but when it takes on average 5minutes to unload and load a train, that really isn't good enough. Now onto the ride, from what I remembered the ride used to be really smooth and forceful. Once we crusted the lift hill, the ride really picked up a great amount of speed, we flew round the corner with some really great intense forces. Then into the loop the ride become extremely rough, as we exited the loop I felt my head smash into the harness a good 3 times, then the cobra roll seemed really snappy, then into the exit of the cobra roll it become really rough once again. The zero-g roll done nothing for me (like on most inverts), then the inclined loop/helix was enjoyable, then one last bang in the harness as we enter the brake run. This ride was a great first ride and a really nice stunning, but the staff are terrible and the ride has become too rough to enjoy now what's a shame really.
Velocity
I really love this ride, the launch is excellent and really catches you by surprise has some great force to it, really do wish the airtime hill wasn't trimmed to death though. The ride has become rather rough, but nothing to major to spoil the ride. This ride really does need a good clean up though, starting to look really out of date now.
The Lost River Ride
I waited and hour and 20minutes for this ride due to the worst loading I've ever seen, the ride has 4 boats, but that is no where near enough for a ride off this length! Then slow staff didn't help the matter, in the end it spoiled the whole ride, its nice going though the animal exhibits and seeing them and the drop is fairly good with a nice amount of wetness, but it really wasn't worth the queue.
Flip Flop
Not much to say about this rides, its extreme, has LOADS of airtime, extremely long cycle and has a really nice setting over the small manmade lake.
Cliff-hanger
Great S&S tower, it wasn't in combo mode the day I went, but still much much better than ice blast. The ride really is looking tired and unloved now though. Still has some great airtime at the top though.
Ride Count:
Hero x 1
Mumbo Jumbo x1
Flip Flop x1
Sky flyer x1
Twistosourus x1
Kumarli x1
Cliff Hanger x1
Velocity x1
Overall it was a really good day, shame I didn't have enough time to see the zoo, but I did get on everything I wanted to, also the dino stone area of the park is stunning, and really enjoyable to be in, best area of the park by far, lovely theming and some nice family rides too.
