End of Geauga Lake - WW Kingdom Closed, Big Dipper Gone

Re: Wildwater Kingdom to close after 2016 season

I wonder who will get the Thunder Falls/Hurricane Mountain slide complex... I was certain Cedar Point would end up with it, as soon as Cedar Fair took over Geauga Lake. I was actually surprised yesterday when they announced that park would be getting the same slide tower the other Cedar Fair parks have added in the last few seasons. I guess Michigan's Adventure still hasn't announced anything....

This slide complex, added during the Six Flags days...

While [strike]Soak City[/strike] Cedar Point Shores will be receiving a new slide complex and updated kiddie area, there still remains plenty of room for continued slide expansion thanks to the removal of the go-karts and Skyscraper attraction. I actually thought the new slide additions would go into the area in between Magnum and RipCord; they will however be building 2016 slides in front of the Magnum entry gate.

My dream would be moving elements of Wildwater Kingdom to other Cedar Fair parks, such as CP, KI, Dorney, etc. My top hope would be Cedar Point receiving Geauga Lake's ProSlide Tornado - I was bummed when that was not revealed as a new add for 2016.

That all being said, this truly is sad; this will be the first time in 129 years that Geauga Lake will not have an entertainment attraction open.

...And it's all gone now....

Cedar Fair has officially destroyed 130+ years of history. Nothing left of the dry park, god knows what'll happen to Wildwater Kingdom. But looking at the current state of things, wrecking ball is the most likely option. Very, very sad.

Very sad to see. I was hoping there was a chance of another sale of the coaster or even relocating it to another park. A definite loss to roller coaster history, and one less John A Miller design in the world. :(
