RCDB list that Duinrell are getting a family Gerstlauer later this year.

Gavin went the other day and said he couldn't see any evidence of this on the park at all. I couldn't see anything on their website.

According to a post on here: http://www.vijfzintuigen.nl/Forum/index ... ic=16127.0 they've put in for planning permission and have started clearing trees from an area of the park. However, it also says that whilst it is a Gerstlauer, its unclear if its going to be a family or a bobsled coaster.

I think this'll be a pretty good move for the park. They're due a new coaster this year. They've already got a Euro-fighter, so Gerstlauer are a known-quantity. It's a lovely little family park. Quite quirky and set in the countryside. Think Blackgang Chine, but without the cliffs. They're clearly suffering from the massive cock up with the batflyer that never worked, yet are still managing to make regular new additions. Good on them. I do wonder though how much longer the Tivoli will be around for? It's ancient, and if they get the family model, will be a little bit obscolete. Mind you, they might well want to keep it for as long as possible for sentimental reasons. I don't know.

But yes, can anyone shed any more light on this?

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

I was thinking of going here, but a Rage and Tivoli clone just wasn't enough, even though it is just by the hoek. However, this could change things a bit...

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

It is a lovely park. Very leafy and quirky. No, there's a not a lot there in terms of rides (especially if you're there on your own or only in a very small group). However, the Eurofighter is about the least terrible I've been on, and they do have the most awesome bobsled run thing in the universe.

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

Yeah, I looked all over for any evidence of this ("coming soon" signs, construction, something on the map etc.), but there was absolutely nothing. If there is something coming this year, it must be something really insignificant if they're not trying to create any kind of buzz within the park for it, either that or they've dropped the ball on marketing/trying to get repeat customers this year.

It is a lovely little park, though, as Nic said. The eurofighter is decent (though I've never had the problems with them that many people seem to bitch about, so who knows), and the park is just a really pleasant place to spend a couple of hours. It's a bit of a mission by public transport (not difficult necessarily, but a bit time consuming), but I still managed to do Drievliet in the same day with plenty of time in both parks.

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

According to a press release posted on http://www.themepark.nl, planning permission has been granted.

Construction begins in on 8th June.

The roller coaster is situated between the Falcon and the Frog Coaster, behind the water spider fitting within this environment. At the start of the 2012 season, the family amusement park roller coaster then safely brought into use with the official unveiling of the name.

Meh?

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

Yay! I have an attachment to Duinrell since visiting there a year ago. I don't really know why, I'm just kinda always routing for them! I guess it's a sort of "underdog" type thing. Awwww.

Anyway, this looks like a good addition for the park. Their visitors are mainly families with younger children, and this fits the brief perfectly. They've got a few "family thrill" rides (a Euro-fighter, a top spin etc), but this is exactly what they need. A ride that will feel "big" and "adventurous" to their youngest of guests, whilst still being accessible to all.

Well played, Duinrell :D

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

Oh, that looks quite nice and I like the look of the park with it's natural setting. I take it hasn't been revealed what type of coaster this is but if I was to put money on it I would go for spinning as that would be EPIC. Especially on that last helix of epicness, can imagine some crazy spinning on that sort of layout.

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

^Was about to say that layout makes it look like it could be a spinner.

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

Yeah, I thought that when I first saw the layout. However, I think it's meant to be one of those family coasters with the new trains (like the new one at Hansa). Although I read somewhere that there's also rumours of a bobsled (like Cobra). Mind you, I just had a look at the layout for Vicky at Plopsa Coo, and its not inconceivable that this could be the same ride type?! If it is, that'll also be an awesome addition for the park :)

I guess time will tell.

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

Won't be a spinner or a bobsled- there are no block brakes... and the layout is too long to send one 4-man car round at a time...

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

I don't think that'll make a difference, as it's such a small park they can get away with a one car operation and with such a short layout it shouldn't be too bad if it is a spinner or bobsled.

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

^ I disagree, I'm certain it wont be a Bobsled purely on the lack of MCBR's, but a spinner is possible as the Gerstlauer spinners have long trains, dont they? Or is that Mack?

(Looks like there could be a couple of airtime spots too, which would be nice)

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

^Mack is the one with the long trains.

I suppose we'll just have to wait for more info to be released.

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

I art work does show a normal train by the way (well the back of it anyway...). I know it IS just art work, but still.

RCDB has this down as 164ft tall...

I know that doesn't make it FACT, but they dont normally add stats unless they're correct...

http://www.duinrell.nl/pers/persbericht ... ieachtbaan

Today's management Duinrell received the notice of the Wassenaar municipality that authorized the construction of a quiet family roller coaster with a height of 15 meters and total length of 361 meters. In the twelve carts, as a train ride on the track, can accommodate 24 people.

Construction is expected to start on June 8 next to the driving of the piles which takes two days.
The foundation for the start of the season completed, then it will work after the summer break could be resumed. Construction is expected before the end of the year completed, and the test phase begins. At the start of the 2012 season, the family amusement park roller coaster then safely brought into use with the official unveiling of the name.

Prior is working on the theming. The roller coaster is situated between the Falcon and the Frog Coaster, behind the water spider fitting within this environment.

Together with the 'Falcon' and 'Frog Rollercoaster "comes this new coaster Duinrell address the concerns of its audiences, particularly families with children.
This new attraction exceeds Duinrell in the coming season the expectations of its guests.

15 metres is 49.2ft. The length in feet is about 1,100. RCDB is way off the mark, unless they're using the Blackpool Pleasure Beach Scale?

Interestingly, construction should have started. Can anybody source some images?

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

Its odd, as like I said, stats aren't normally added unless they're from the manufacturer, and 164' 1" isn't exactly a generic height like 40m etc :|

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

Mistakes happen. That statistic could've been intended for another coaster, could be a typing error, could be any number of things.

I honestly don't see the big deal.

Re: Unknown, Gerstlauer family coaster for Duinrell

Haven't found any construction pics yet. However, I did stumble across these additional plans/concept art

They're all here... http://www.looopings.com/weblog/685/Tad ... nrell.html

That website also has this to say (badly translated by The Internet)

So, it's about time. Finally drawings from Wassenaar. If all goes well, this week the municipality provides the authorization for the new family roller coaster Duinrell. The still unnamed coaster is 15 meters high and will be situated between the Water Spider and the Frog Coaster. Train can take 24 people. The track is painted dark brown, like we used to Duinrell.

Looks like we can rule out a spinner or a bobsled then
